Full Job Description

This position hours are Saturday and Sunday 9a-5p (day position)

POSITION AVAILABLE: Prep Utility Cook

Martin House is a non-profit agency providing nutritious meals to more than 52 residents. Prep Utility Cook to assist with daily & weekend production. This position is day hours Saturdays and Sundays PT This position Supports the Kitchen Manager, weekend staff with food preparation in all service food-related programs, including kitchen operations, production of frozen & daily meals, food donations, & special events.

Reports to Kitchen Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensures proper food handling procedures by staff & volunteers throughout kitchen & meal service area; & maintains standards of sanitation in food prep areas.

2. With assistance of the Executive Chef and weekend Kitchen Manager with preparation, packaging & service of meals according to Daily Production Worksheets.

3. Assists Kitchen & Food Services team members with training volunteers on safe food- handling procedures, as needed.

4. Confers with Executive Chef regarding changes in menu & production.

5. Assists Kitchen Manager in all aspects of contract services kitchen operations: 1) production, 2) quality of control in or distribution from the kitchen, using the First-In First-Out (FIFO) Method; and 3) in receipt of food & delivery items & kitchen supplies, as needed.

6. Participates in cleaning food service equipment such as floors, dishes, flatware, pots, pans, equipment, stoves, sinks, & floors.

7. Maintains professionalism at all times with Kitchen & Food Services team members & volunteers.

8. Effectively communicates with Kitchen Manager.

9. Participates in all manadatory in house required paid trainings.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum of three (3) years' culinary experience.

· Possess high school diploma or GED.

· Valid ServSafe Food Handler (or equivalent) Certification.

· Multi-tasking, communication & listening skills, required.

· Experience working in a large, fast-paced kitchen.

· Kitchen work schedule: Martin House is a 24hr 365 day facility. Kitchen staff could need to rotate holidays.

Knowledge of food safety issues associated with HIV/AIDS & other high-risk populations' specialty diets, highly preferred. Skilled in food preparation for large groups; proper use of knives, scissors, & other kitchen cooking implements; & basic computer & software programs. Able to freely navigate kitchen; stand at counter height for up to 3 hours; lift

up to 50 pounds; develop & maintain good working relationships with staff & volunteers; handle multiple tasks & deadlines simultaneously; navigate stairs; gather data, compile information & prepare reports; use independent judgment & manage & impart confidential information; read & comprehend simple instructions; write simple correspondence; effectively present information to individuals & groups; apply common sense understanding; carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; & interact with a diverse staff & client population.

Hourly Rate: $20.36 - $24.00 (hourly).

Benefits: 2 weeks Paid Time Off (PTO) 6 sick days 4 personal 2 floation 7 paid holidays; & 403(b) retirement plan match 3% after 2 years.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
