Full Job Description

About Us: We are a dedicated community services organization committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness. Operating across three counties, we provide a compassionate bridge from life on the streets to the stability of a permanent home. Our mission is to meet individuals exactly where they are, offering a path forward through intensive support, resource navigation, and unwavering advocacy. We are looking for an Intensive Outpatient Counselor (IOP) to join our team.

As a counselor at New Life Discovery Project, you will play a crucial role in this mission. You will be responsible for providing individual, education and group therapy sessions within our intensive outpatient program, offering a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their challenges and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing Client Support: Conduct individual and group sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing, CBT, Seeking Safety, Matrix, and Living in Balance to address client needs.
Developing Personalized Treatment Plans: Implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's unique strengths, needs, abilities and preferences (SNAP). Utilizing measurable achievable goals throughout treatment.
Comprehensive Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including treatment plans, group notes, and individual counseling session documentation, adhering to state and county guidelines.
Assessment and Evaluation: Administer the ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) assessment to evaluate clients' addiction history, medical and mental health status, socioeconomic factors, legal issues, and other relevant aspects of their lives during intake or as needed.
Mental and Emotional Screening: Utilize screening tools, such as GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionnaire-9), to monitor clients' mental and emotional well-being.
Monitoring Progress and Adapting Interventions: Continuously monitor client progress and adjust interventions as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
Facilitating Educational Workshops: Lead psychoeducational workshops on coping strategies, relapse prevention, and essential life skills.
Connecting Clients to Resources: Provide referrals to external services based on clients' specific needs, ensuring they have access to the support they require.
Obtain ROI’s: Complete releases of information for outside agencies.
Discharge planning: Prepare clients for discharge by completing relapse prevention plans and ensuring they have a support plan in place.
Continuous Learning: Attend various trainings to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field.
Contributing to the Team: Undertake other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Qualifications:

Requiring a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or a majority of approved counselor certification courses.
Continued registration/certification with a California Alcohol and Drug Program certifying body, with proof required immediately upon employment.
Compliance with Department of Health Care Services regulations regarding service provision is paramount.

Experience: 2-5 years of experience in SUD related field.

Reports to: Intensive Outpatient Director

**This is an in person position, remote/virtual work is not an option**

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
