StarCity Behavioral Health is a mission-driven organization dedicated to supporting individuals in reclaiming their lives through evidence-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered care. We offer a compassionate, structured environment in our ASAM Level 2.5 and 2.1 programs located in Richmond, VA. We are currently seeking multiple Peer Recovery Specialists to join our multidisciplinary team.

Job Summary

As a Peer Recovery Specialist or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) at StarCity Behavioral Health, you will play a vital role in providing peer-based support and structure to individuals navigating substance use and recovery from Substance Use Disorder. You’ll help maintain a safe, recovery-oriented environment. You will use your lived experience and training to guide and empower residents.

Responsibilities

Offer peer support and mentorship to clients, using lived experience to build trust and model recovery.
Performing Intake Processes both manually and in automated systems, including searches and drug screens
Notifying shift manager of necessary referrals based on information provided during intake (medical, clinical, etc).
Providing both scheduled and ad-hoc transportation to and from housing.
Providing oversight of clients before, during and after clinical services, including direct oversight during breaks and monitoring of non-clinical areas such as the parking lots, hallways, and bathrooms.
Assisting with lunch service.
Maintain clear professional boundaries and uphold StarCity’s standards of care and ethics.
Other duties as assigned and in scope with the parameters of the other elements of this job description

Qualifications

MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO WORK IN A DBHDS LICENSED PROGRAM.
MUST POSSESS PRS, CPRS, OR BE WILLING TO TAKE PRS TRAINING.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required).
Basic computer skills and comfort using electronic documentation systems (required).
Strong communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
Demonstrated empathy, patience, and the ability to remain nonjudgmental.
Proven ability to maintain professional boundaries while sharing lived experience.
Organized and reliable with strong documentation habits.
Comfortable working in an outpatient setting with a diverse client population.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Prior experience in an ASAM Level 2.5, 2.1 or other substance abuse or treatment setting is a plus.

Schedule

Full-time and part-time shifts available.
Must be available for evening, weekend, and/or holiday shifts as needed.
