Full Job Description

The Berhe Group, Inc. provides comprehensive services, including individual/group therapy for at-risk children and their families from a trauma background. The Pre-Licesnsed Clinician will be responsible for a caseload of six clients, depending on the client's needs and level of impairment. This position will provide individual/group therapy and case management to at-risk children and their families. The Clinician will also collaborate with the client's foster/resource parents, biological parents, teachers, County Dept. of Behavioral Health, etc., to maintain an interdisciplinary team approach for treatment purposes.

Clinicians who are licensed or pre-licensed with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). MFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, PsyD's, AMFTs, ACSWs, APCCs are all welcome to apply. Supervision provided for pre-licensed employees.

Definition

These extended range classifications perform the full range of assignments related to the field of mental health services, including individual and group psychotherapy, evaluations and investigations, and professional counseling in accordance with applicable professional licensing laws. Within these extended-range classifications, incumbents are assigned to the band appropriate to their degrees and licensure; perform related duties as required.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the entry level of the series, encompassing three bands of licensure: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist, and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Within the scope of licensure, positions provide psychotherapy, psychotherapeutic treatment and counseling for clients exhibiting a variety of mental health and related disorders in a clinic or institutional setting. Incumbents are experienced, licensed professionals.

Examples of Duties

Subject to the scope of licensure of the incumbents, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Screens prospective clients to determine appropriateness for program services; provides orientation sessions for clients deemed appropriate.

Conducts intake assessments; prepares diagnostic evaluations which includes obtaining personal, social, emotional, and substance abuse history; determines the cause, nature and severity of the client's current mental status.

Develops, evaluates and implements goal-oriented treatment plans.

Provides direct treatment services such as individual and group therapy to a difficult and complex client population.

Monitors clients' use and response to medication; reports adverse reactions or failure to maintain stability to psychiatrist.

Intervenes in crisis situations when a patient exhibits acute psychiatric symptoms which present an immediate threat to the patient or others.

Provides rehabilitative and socialization services to restore and maintain the best possible functional level of patients with chronic psychological impairments.

Develops and/or implements minor and major treatment plan changes related to such areas as group structures, treatment goals and directions, the incorporation of newly mandated services, and contract services.

Provides consultation to other staff members on a client's history, mental status and previous treatment, and on the community resources available for the treatment of a client.

Participates in the staff review of a case; recommends changes in therapeutic techniques, environment, and/or charting to facilitate patient recovery.

Recommends when to terminate professional counseling treatment; develops follow up plan and/or revised post treatment techniques and activities.

Assists clients and families in understanding the nature of their physical, mental, or emotional disorder; provides emotional support and information to assist them in identifying external stressors that contribute to the client's problems.

Prepares case documentation, progress and court reports, conservatorship requests, special reports, proposals, manuals and correspondence.

Provides vacation and temporary relief as required.

Supplemental Information

For licensed classifications in the Clinical Therapist series, licensure must be maintained and in good standing. Failure to maintain a valid, current license will result in termination after two pay periods.

Minimum Requirements

Pre-Licensed Clinical Social Worker
License: Must be Registered in California as an Associate Clinical Social Worker. Applicants must indicate license number and expiration date.

Pre-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
License: Must be Registered in the State of California as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Indicate license number and expiration date.

Pre-Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors
License: Must be registered in the State of California as an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. Indicate license number and expiration date on the supplemental questionnaire. A copy of license is required upon appointment.
