Job Description and Duties

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST (LIMITED TERM-FULL TIME) – DIABLO RANGE DISTRICT / NATURAL RESOURCES / DIABLO RANGE DISTRICT OFFICE

The reporting location for this position is the Diablo Range District Office, 15751 Tesla Road, Livermore CA. This position will work under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory).

This position is responsible for performing a variety of office and field work including: draft environmental compliance documents, conduct biological monitoring, planning and implementation of habitat enhancement projects throughout the northern sectors of the District (Altamont, Contra-Solano, and Delta sectors). This position will have the primary responsibility for Waterway Connections Initiative (WCI) projects within Brannan Island SRA, Delta Meadows, and Bethany Reservoir SRA and will act as project manager and lead in the performance of natural resource stewardship activities.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

This position is a 12-month Limited-Term position that may be extended and/or become permanent.

Working Conditions

Travel is required throughout the District. Occasional to frequent work outside of office may include: walking or hiking into remote areas of parks with a wide range of rugged terrain, operate and navigate 4x4 vehicles or ATVs in remote park locations. May have moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, elevations, dirt, dust, rain, mud, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. May involve some exposure to aggressive visitors. May be exposed to extreme weather and traffic conditions.
