Full Job Description

Nestled on the Central California Coast, Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. San Luis Obispo offers the excitement of a lively community while being a fifteen-minute drive from the serenity of Avila Beach, known for their natural hot springs, and Pismo Beach, known for their sand dunes and eucalyptus trees. Featuring a charming downtown, comfortable coastal weather, idyllic views, and an active lifestyle San Luis Obispo offers much to be had.

Job Summary:

Supports technologists with ongoing patient care, including assisting, transporting, moving and supervising patients in the radiology department. Helps manage the imaging department's patient flow.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
Experience in hospital setting: Preferred

Essential Functions:

Safely transports and assists patients between other departments and waiting areas. Assists patients from wheelchair to exam table, stretcher or toilet and back as needed. Provides direct patient care as directed by technologists or radiologists, in conjunction with all imaging procedures.
Reviews physician orders, researches lab values and provides patient education as directed by technologists.
Helps manage the imaging department's patient flow. Familiarizes self with all department computer systems and programs, under the supervision of technologists. Transports and assists patients between other departments and waiting areas. Position and assists patients on and off exam tables and escorts patients to the restroom. Familiarizes self with the hospital's "Lift" equipment.
Processes paperwork, prints and logs camera QC for nuclear medicine. Develops and assembles films in preparation for reading. Assists the imaging clerical staff as needed. Adheres to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
Cleans and disinfects equipment and exam rooms, following infection control guidelines. Keeps stretchers and wheelchairs clean and blanket warmers and linens stocked.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
