Full Job Description

FULL-TIME DERMATOLOGY CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT – Starting at $19.00 per hour

At Lackawanna Valley Dermatology Associates, we provide excellent dermatological care to Northeast PA! Our growing Practice has two state-of-the-art offices located in Scranton and Kingston, PA. We provide our patients with the finest care in general dermatology, pediatric dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, Mohs skin cancer surgery, and laser treatments.

We are seeking a Clinical Medical Assistant to join our team! Successful candidates will be friendly, collaborative team players who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

** While the majority of your days will be spent at our Kingston location, you must be willing and available to travel to our Scranton location when needed. **

Job Summary

This is an on-site position. Hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Essential Functions

Prepare exam/surgery rooms each morning as required, configure Expeditor Light System, fill liquid nitrogen containers, begin calling patients back to rooms. Log temps in medical refrigerators/freezers.
Escort patients to exam/surgery rooms as required
Ensure exam/surgery room is clean before taking patient back
Ensure surgery tray is set up
Document patient history
Prepare patient for exam, i.e., have patient on exam table with appropriate clothing removed for doctor to see affected area(s), remove make-up if required, remove leg ulcer dressings and apply topical xylocaine as required, etc.
Notify other clinical staff if delayed in a room with a patient
Assists doctors in exam/surgery rooms as needed
Complete patient charts with appropriate information
E-prescribe prescriptions for doctor to sign and document in chart
Complete and print pathology sheets and prepare specimens
Apply dressings after surgery and give post-operative instructions
Complete billing in EMR system for Check-Out Staff.
Provide coverage for clinical staff members who are out

Qualifications

· Minimum one year experience in medical practice or professional medical setting required

· High School Diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Proficiency in EMR (Medent preferred) and computer skills

· ICD and CPT coding knowledge preferred

· Prior experience in Dermatology strongly preferred

· Ability and willingness to travel to and work at our locations in Scranton and Kingston offices as needed

· Ability to multi-task while simultaneously providing excellent, quality care to our patients

· Ability and willingness to work as effective member of a team

Licenses & Certifications

· Medical Assistant Certification preferred
