Full Job Description

The Early learning HUB Coach role is to provide on-site early learning coaching to VOT operated centers and home based licensed childcare programs located in King County and support a data-driven quality improvement process in an early learning setting. The coach works to develop quality improvement goals, model, and support best practices in early childhood education and management practices, and support professional development goals for all VOT operated Early Learning Programs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Early learning HUB Coach will have specific responsibilities that will include, but may not be limited to:

Provide coaching to build and strengthen skills in early learning best practices, use of technology, navigating the state professional development system, carrying out quality related self-assessments, and meeting quality improvement goals.
Support VOT’s center and family childcare providers to progress through the WA State Early Achievers Quality Rating Improvement System.
Utilize formal and informal data to establish and monitor quality improvement goals for VOT’s centers and in home providers.
Document in the DCYF WA WELS database including: o Pre-rating support provided to each site prior to finalized rating.

o Quality Improvement Plan for each site once the rating is finalized, including goals and Action Plans. o Enter scoring and document use of the coaching strategies used to support teacher implementation of curriculum.

o Required coach professional development including:

Date of Early Achievers Coach Framework training. Date attended coach webinars. Titles and dates of coach webinars. Date achieving ERS or CLASS reliability, if applicable. Curriculum and Coaching to Fidelity training, if applicable.

Submit complete and accurate documentation in a regular and timely manner.

Model respect for providers and their individual cultural practices as well as ECE best practices at all times.
Effectively deliver content related to quality improvement through skilled observations, modeling, teaching, feedback and mentoring in home care providers and Direct staff.
Provide ongoing support, training, and technical assistance to rated Early Achievers participants.
Administer designated assessment tools, recognize high- and low-quality interactions, instructional support, environments, deliver content, and resources which guide improvement.
Understand and interpret all components of the Early Achievers ratings.
Collect, interpret, and use classroom data in the development of quality improvement plans.
Demonstrate and model reflective practices with childcare providers.
Demonstrate familiarity with community resources available to childcare providers and direct staff and families in the designated counties.
Comply with all required data collection, reporting requirements, activities, progress reports, and other required documentation within the designated timeframe.
Participate in coach framework trainings, checks, community of practice, and other activities to ensure fidelity to the model.
Develop and maintain a schedule for onsite visits based upon the program needs in collaboration with the Director of Early Learning and Hub Early Learning Manger.
Attend all required trainings, meetings, and webinars regarding the coaching framework and other professional development activities.
Maintain confidentiality in all areas of practice including staff, childcare providers, family and child confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field or a bachelor’s degree with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits in early childhood education. These 30 credits may be included in the degree or in addition to the degree.
Bi-lingual ability (Somali and English) preferred
Ability to communicate effectively and relate sensitively to adults and children from diverse ethnic and socio-economic groups
Proficiency in oral and written English language
Proficiency with computer software like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teaching Strategies Gold (not required but preferred)

Additional expectations include:

Expertise in effective coaching, mentoring and/or other consultative practices that supports adult learners
Ability to work independently and self-motivate; majority of time is offsite work.
Ability to analyze and interpret data.
Understanding and experience with Quality Improvement and Adult Learning Theory.
Knowledge of ECE Curricula and Assessments, including CLASS and ERS
Classroom/Family Child Care experience required.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, cultural relevancy and inclusion is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent listening skills with the ability to give and receive critical feedback.
Proven ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to maintain timely documentation/data entry into electronic data system.
Proven ability to consistently meet monthly project goals.
Ability to work occasional night and weekend hours within the work week.
Ability to provide leadership, innovation, motivation and constructive feedback to Early Learning professionals.
Knowledge of computer software, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
Washington State Driver’s License, automobile insurance, and access to a reliable automobile.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, cultural relevancy, and inclusion
Must pass Department of Early Learning’s Portable Background Check (PBC).
Excellent external and internal customer service skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative as well as in a team environment
Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility
Ability to juggle multiple tasks at a time
