Position Overview
The Facilities Director serves as the primary leader responsible for the cleanliness, maintenance,
appearance, safety, and operational readiness of all Discovery Church campuses. This position develops
and leads volunteer teams while ensuring that every campus provides a welcoming, safe, and excellent
environment where people can worship, grow, and connect with Jesus Christ.
The Facilities Director oversees preventative maintenance, custodial operations, facility improvements,
inventory management, vendor relationships, and event support across all current and future Discovery
Church campuses. Working under the Administrative Pastor, Operations Pastor, ministry leaders, and
volunteers, this role creates systems that allow Discovery Church facilities to support ministry with
excellence while building teams that serve with ownership and joy.
Scope of Responsibility
The Facilities Director provides leadership and oversight for:
* Multi-campus facilities operations
* Cleaning teams
* Facilities volunteer teams
* Campus Facilities Team Leaders
* Maintenance scheduling
* Preventative maintenance
* Facility inventory
* Restroom and ministry area readiness
* Vendor coordination
* Lawn and landscaping contractors
* Pest control services
* HVAC maintenance
* Building security (in coordination with leadership)
* Event setup and teardown support
* Capital improvement projects
* Facilities budgets
* Campus appearance and readiness

1. Spiritual Leadership

2. Multi-Campus Facilities Leadership
* Provide leadership for all Discovery Church campuses.
* Responsibilities include:
* Develop consistent facility standards across every campus.
* Maintain excellent first impressions.
* Ensure every campus is clean, safe, organized, and ministry-ready.
* Create scalable systems for future campus launches.
* Conduct regular campus inspections.
* Identify facility needs before they become larger issues.
* Coordinate long-term maintenance planning.
3. Volunteer Recruitment & Team Development
* Recruit, train, and develop healthy volunteer facilities teams.
* Responsibilities include:
* Recruit volunteers for cleaning and maintenance teams.
* Develop Campus Facilities Team Leaders.
* Build ownership within volunteer teams.
* Create rotating service schedules.
* Train volunteers in cleaning and maintenance procedures.
* Hold regular team meetings.
* Develop apprentices and future leaders.
* Recognize and appreciate volunteers regularly.
* Foster a culture of excellence and servant leadership.
4. Cleaning & Campus Readiness
* Ensure every campus is prepared for ministry throughout the week.
* Responsibilities include:
* Maintain clean worship spaces.
* Ensure classrooms are prepared.
* Keep coffee stations stocked and organized.
* Ensure restrooms remain clean and fully supplied.
* Maintain ministry gathering spaces.
* Coordinate weekly cleaning schedules.
* Conduct pre-service facility walkthroughs.
* Address facility issues promptly.
5. Preventative Maintenance
* Develop and oversee preventative maintenance systems.
* Responsibilities include:
* Coordinate HVAC maintenance schedules.
* Replace HVAC filters.
* Coordinate drain line maintenance.
* Schedule preventative inspections.
* Maintain maintenance records.
* Monitor building systems.
* Coordinate repairs before failures occur.
* Assist with long-term facility planning.
6. Vendor & Contractor Management
* Coordinate relationships with outside service providers.
* Responsibilities include:
* Lawn care contractors.
* Pest control providers.
* HVAC companies.
* Cleaning vendors (when applicable).
* Plumbing contractors.
* Electrical contractors.
* Security vendors.
* General maintenance providers.
* Ensure:
* Services are completed on schedule.
* Contracts remain current.
* Work meets Discovery Church standards.
* Competitive pricing is maintained.
7. Inventory & Purchasing
* Maintain organized inventory systems.
* Responsibilities include:
* Track facility supplies.
* Monitor inventory levels.
* Request supplies for purchase.
* Maintain storage areas.
* Organize maintenance equipment.
* Track cleaning products.
* Recommend equipment purchases.
* Practice biblical stewardship of church resources.
8. Event Support
* Support church ministries through facility preparation.
* Responsibilities include:
* Ensure building-use checklists are completed.
* Coordinate room setup and teardown.
* Prepare facilities for conferences, weddings, funerals, outreach events, and church-wide
gatherings.
* Coordinate with ministry leaders regarding facility needs.
* Ensure facilities are restored following events.
* Support campus-specific ministry activities.
9. Safety & Security
* Promote safe ministry environments.
* Responsibilities include:
* Monitor facility safety.
* Identify hazards.
* Coordinate repairs.
* Assist with emergency preparedness.
* Ensure walkways, entrances, and ministry areas remain safe.
* Assist leadership with campus security planning.
* Support child safety environments.
10. Budget & Resource Stewardship
* Develop the annual Facilities Budget.
* Submit budget requests by September 1.
* Practice wise stewardship of church resources.
* Monitor maintenance expenses.
* Recommend capital improvements.
* Evaluate repair versus replacement decisions.
* Maintain purchasing records.
11. Administration & Systems
* Maintain maintenance schedules.
* Keep maintenance logs current.
* Track completed work orders.
* Coordinate facility calendars with ministry leaders.
* Maintain vendor documentation.
* Develop systems that support future church growth.
12. Staff & Ministry Collaboration
* Communicate weekly with Coffee Team Leaders.
* Communicate weekly with Cleaning Team Leaders.
* Coordinate with Campus Pastors.
* Work alongside the Administrative Pastor and Operations Pastor.
* Support ministry leaders with facility needs.
* Assist church-wide events and initiatives.
* Promote teamwork across campuses.
13. Additional Responsibilities
* Support church-wide ministry initiatives.
* Participate in leadership meetings as requested.
* Assist during emergency facility needs.
* Respond to unexpected maintenance issues.

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
