Position: IOP Primary Therapist / Senior Primary Therapist

Compensation Range: $80,000-$120,000, depending on licensure, experience level, degree type, geography and certifications/specializations.

Company Overview:

Nack Behavioral Health provides individualized intensive outpatient (IOP) care to emerging adults (18-35 years old) on college campuses who are experiencing primary mental health disorders. We partner with universities to offer an affordable, accessible, and high-quality option to their students who need a higher level of care than what university counseling centers can typically provide. With facilities adjacent to the campuses of our university partners, we provide most services in-person, using hybrid/telehealth services when necessary. Our services are also reimbursed by commercial insurance, which helps mitigate costs for students/families and universities alike.

Nack offers a 16-week IOP curriculum with a comprehensive clinical model that consists of group therapy (3-4 days per week for 3 hours per day), individual therapy (weekly), and family therapy (semi-monthly). We work collaboratively with our university partners to refine our evidence-based, culturally informed clinical programming to meet the needs of their student bodies. Our clinical team consists of doctoral-level and masters-level licensed therapists, supplemented by interns and practicum students.

Position Overview:

The IOP Primary Therapist / Senior Primary Therapist (“Primary Therapist”) provides mental health treatment services to Nack’s clients and their families through group, family, and individual therapy sessions, along with case management and crisis intervention as applicable.

Qualifications:

Education and Licensure: Master’s degree in mental health field required, PhD or PsyD a plus. Active California licensure in mental health field required (from the Board of Psychology for PhD or PsyD; from the Board of Behavioral Sciences for A/LMFT, A/LCSW, or A/LPCC).
Supervision Eligibility: For Senior Primary Therapist, eligible to supervise associate therapists according to BBS standards.
Experience: Experience working in mental health (and/or substance use or eating disorders) treatment preferred, especially in an outpatient, school, hospital, or residential setting.
Skills Profile: The ideal candidate is a dynamic clinician who desires to work with emerging adults, provide excellent client care, contribute to a diverse clinical team, learn from experienced clinical leadership, be a self-starter initiative to work independently, and develop further as a professional within an early-stage growth company.

Required Skills and Experiences:

Prior education, training, and experience in treating primary mental health disorders, including, but not limited to: mood disorders, anxiety disorders, suicidal ideation, self-harm behaviors, complex grief, emotion dysregulation, thought disorders, personality disorders, and trauma.
Prior education, training, and experience in evidence-based practices, including, but not limited to: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Unified Protocol (UP), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), and/or Motivational Interviewing.
Prior training and experience with multiple modalities of care, including group therapy, family / supportive other therapy, and individual therapy, along with case management and crisis intervention as indicated.
General knowledge of commercial insurance requirements and expectations, including quality of clinical notes, and utilization review/authorization processes.
Experience with using an electronic medical record (EMR) system to administer clinical assessments, complete clinical charts, and execute other relevant workstreams.
Experience in integrating principles and practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical service delivery and team collaboration.

Job Duties:

Deliver IOP mental health services for emerging adults (ages ~18-35) experiencing primary mental health disorders on university campuses. Ensure that therapy sessions promote an inclusive environment with client safety and quality of care at the forefront.
Facilitate group therapy sessions within Nack’s 16-week IOP clinical curriculum. Groups include evidence-based practices as well as experiential practices.
Provide weekly individual therapy and semi-monthly family / supportive other therapy sessions for a caseload of up to seven (7) clients.
Provide appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations based on review of clients’ histories and symptoms.
Create and maintain treatment plans for clients in assigned caseload; refine with Clinical Director and during weekly treatment team meetings as needed.
Attend and actively participate in weekly treatment team meetings.
Maintain comprehensive clinical documentation (group, individual, family, case management, and crisis intervention) that meets or exceeds relevant legal, ethical, and accreditor standards; complete client charts/notes in EMR within 24 hours of sessions. Document clearly and concisely clients’ feelings, expressions, and responses to their treatment; develop reasonable goals and objectives for treatment outcomes.
Administer client outcomes measurement tools such as PHQ-9 and GAD-7 via company EMR to maintain longitudinal data records and review trends with treatment team.
Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients’ families / support systems as needed.
Communicate professionally and regularly with referral sources for assigned caseload.
Engage in utilization review calls with insurance carriers as needed.
Initiate discharge plans for clients in Nack’s care upon admission; develop and maintain throughout length of treatment and assist client/family with next steps upon discharge.
Participate in and speak at university events or clinical conferences as requested by Clinical Director.
Attend continuing education opportunities and maintain active clinical licensure.
Abide by current legal, ethical, and accreditor standards pertaining to professional practices and boundaries, reporting requirements, and related issues.
Uphold and maintain clinical vision and core values of Nack Behavioral Health.
For Senior Primary Therapist, provide clinical supervision to associate therapists and assist with on-call coverage as assigned by Clinical Director / Chief Clinical Officer.
Provide back-up coverage to Clinical Director for 24/7 on-call phone line for urgent clinical needs of site-specific clients, as needed.
Attend Company outreach or marketing events as needed.
Other duties as requested by Clinical Director.
