Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are a 103-year-old, family-owned metal fabrication manufacturer seeking a motivated CNC Laser Machine Operator to join our team. We take pride in our long history, quality workmanship, and supportive, team-oriented work environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment. Experience with tube laser cutting machines, especially Mazak or similar equipment, is preferred but not required.

Candidates with CNC programming experience are strongly encouraged to apply. We will also consider mechanically skilled candidates who are motivated and willing to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines.
Load and unload raw materials and finished components.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and GD&T specifications.
Select the correct materials, tooling, fixtures, and machine settings for each job.
Load, modify, or create CNC programs based on experience and training.
Monitor cutting operations and make minor machine or programming adjustments.
Inspect completed parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
Verify dimensions and ensure finished components meet quality standards.
Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration.
Troubleshoot basic machine, tooling, and cutting-quality issues.
Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
Use forklifts, cranes, or other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
Assist with welding, assembly, and other fabrication work as needed.
Follow all company safety procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade-school training is preferred.
At least two years of CNC machining, laser cutting, or related manufacturing experience is preferred.
CNC laser cutting experience is strongly preferred.
Tube laser cutting experience, particularly with Mazak equipment, is a plus.
CNC programming knowledge is preferred, but training may be available for a motivated candidate with strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
Understanding of measurements, tolerances, basic shop math, and quality-control procedures.
Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, hand tools, and fabrication equipment.
Familiarity with CNC mills, CNC lathes, plasma cutting, stamping presses, welding, or sheet-metal fabrication is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Willingness to learn new equipment, manufacturing processes, and CNC programming.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a production shift.
Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive production tasks.
Ability to lift and move up to material independently and heavier materials with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment.
Ability to work safely around machinery, metal materials, noise, and typical manufacturing-floor conditions.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
