Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and sustaining efforts of the manufacturing and production lines; including Generator Control Units (GCUs), Transformer Rectifier Units (TRUs), and other electrical power conversion units. The selected candidate completes daily duties related to support of operations, maintenance of manufacturing work instructions, routers, and associated paperwork.
Ø Support Project Engineers, Lead Production Techs, and Industrialization Engineers as needed.
Ø Facilitate Training and mentor Mfg technicians / engineers, co-ops, and other manufacturing technical personnel
Ø Provide inputs for concurrent engineering of Safran product within the supply base
Ø Support manufacturing and improvement activity
Ø Assists in troubleshooting and potential design improvements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Transfer of Knowledge & Best Practices to manufacturing engineers / technicians, co-ops, and lead operators.
· Maintain and perform Continuous improvements to existing build instructions
o Technical writing to include the creation, maintenance, and improvement of manufacturing documentation (e.g., work instructions, specifications, and procedures).
o Convert engineering redlines into permanent changes in documentation
· Provide manufacturing support to production and operators as needed / Responsible for troubleshooting manufacturing related technical issues
· Completes design reviews and concurrent engineering with the design group as needed
· Focus on improvement of assembly processes of medium duty aerospace power components
· Responsible for measuring, analyzing and driving improvements in the manufacturing processes and equipment used in the manufacture of electronics & electrical sub-assemblies, to assure compliance to engineering specifications and to ensure a high quality industrialized process in the suppliers.
o Participates in the QRQC process
o Performs trend analysis and regular SPC review of product lines
o Defines operator training needs and improvements
o Completes regular process improvement and cost reduction projects to legacy product lines
· Utilize Lean Manufacturing/One Safran principles and tools to set up efficient production process flows
· Adhere to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture
o Responsible for ensuring safe and proper ergonomic conditions
· Supports successful transition of programs from the development stage to production stage. Chooses and designs simple tools; provides input to engineering for complex tooling
· Assists operators and manufacturing technicians with the non-conformance processes and assessments
· Acts as backup for SAP BOM updates and SAP related transactions for non-conformances
· Serves as an integral member of engineering program teams in support of current development and production activities
· Understand, implement, and follow elements of ISO-9001, AS9100 quality system and Nadcap standards
· Interfaces with all levels of management and employees to gather information and provide guidance for identification and implementation of new processes
· Represent the Engineering Department on the Material Review Board (MRB) to disposition non-conforming material, develop rework/repair procedures, and perform analysis of root cause corrective action (RCCA)
- Evening/night and weekend hours may be required.

Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering technology / Manufacturing / Industrialization or Engineering degree with experience in Aerospace manufacturing. Willing to accept relevant practical experience in lieu of degree
· A minimum of 5 years of design or manufacturing experience with aerospace electronics, or in related areas.
· Must be a United States citizen or possess the legal right to work in the U.S. on military and commercial applications.
Candidate skills & requirements
· Proficient at interpreting engineering drawings and applying appropriate manufacturing techniques regarding electronics and wound assembly manufacturing processes such as soldering, copper forming, brazing, impregnation, cabling and harnessing, and mechanical assembly.
- Fundamental understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
· Knowledge of tooling design and use of hand tools for mechanical assembly of electrical components.
· Possess a working knowledge of Continuous Improvement activities and be fully conversant with PFMEA’s and CI techniques.
· Proficient with Aerospace industry standards
· Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels internally and externally, representing Safran to the suppliers.
· High level of self-motivation and job planning, able to work independently and meet deadlines

· Strong verbal and written skills
· New Product Development & Launch: Knowledge of the key phases and requirements of an effective new program process.
· Product development and launch system - i.e. APQP, PPAP, etc - and has basic knowledge of the associated tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, Characteristic Matrix, Gage Capability, Process Capability, Process Flow.
· Preventive Maintenance, Machine Runoff, Risk analysis, Causal analysis, 8D, SPC etc
