Full-Time Days On-Site, Summa Akron Campus

Summary:
Provides leadership, direction and administration in all aspects of Patient Access and Consumer Excellence across the system, which includes all Registration functions (centralized and decentralized areas), Information Desk, Financial Counseling, and Cashier processes, Patient Billing, Financial Assistance and Customer Service Call Center activities. In collaboration with clinical and IT partners, Corporate Compliance, Legal Services and Revenue Cycle Trainer-Auditors, this role is responsible for development and implementation of all patient access policies, procedures and training curriculums to support Summa’s mission, vision, and values, while promoting efforts to improve front-end all patient-facing revenue cycle activities including Front-End Revenue Cycle processes and the patient financial aspects of the Back-End Revenue supporting the overall financial health of the organization. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to achievement of financial and key statistical indicator goals, revenue cycle training for both hospital-based and Summa Health Medical Group employees, periodic audits and appropriate follow-up with department leaders to ensure compliance with regulatory and system policies and procedures., and providing strategic leadership for customer service, financial assistance, and early out/bad debt collections vendor management. Responsible for oversight of projects and implementation of new systems, applications, and processes within Patient Access and Consumer Excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
b. Master’s Degree preferred

2. Experience and Training Required:
a. Ten (10) years of progressive healthcare management focusing on patient access, scheduling, registration, customer service, revenue cycle to include:
i. Five (5) years of successful management of complex contact center, focusing on relationship driven encounters with callers preferably in a healthcare setting.
ii. Three (3) years’ experience in Health Care Information systems in a health care environment.
iii. Two (2) years minimum clinical or administrative information systems experience.
b. Completion of Epic training within 90 days of hire.
c. Epic certification within 90 days of hire.

3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Ability to influence change and process improvement without solid-line reporting.
b. Strong collaboration skills for influencing standardization and change within entity and corporate departments as well as physicians and their offices in order to ensure the overall success of the patient access and revenue cycle operations.
c. PC skills - demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as required.
d. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with patients/customers with the understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity

4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
