Full Job Description

Head of Digital and IT – United States

The Head of Information Technology – United States is accountable for the operational leadership and tactical execution of IT function across US operations.

The role oversees delivery through three established functional pillars, each led by a dedicated Manager:

Enterprise Systems
IT Operations
Cybersecurity

Group‑level strategy, enterprise architecture, standards, and investment direction are defined by the group strategy planning.

This role is accountable for executing against that direction, ensuring outcomes are delivered reliably, securely, and in compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.

The role operates in a highly regulated defense and maritime environment and is critical to enabling safe operations and successful program execution.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Overall Digital & IT Execution (USA)

Act as the single accountable owner for Digital & IT delivery across US operations
Integrate planning, priorities, and delivery across all three pillars
Ensure consistent execution of approved roadmaps and initiatives
Own operational risk relating to IT systems, services, and cybersecurity

2. Enterprise Systems & DevOps (Oversight)

Accountable for outcomes delivered by the Enterprise Systems & DevOps Manager, including:

Operational health and availability of enterprise applications and platforms (e.g. ERP, PLM, MRP, reporting and collaboration tools)
DevOps practices, release management, configuration, and environment stability
Execution of approved system enhancements, integrations, and upgrades
US system ownership responsibilities and operational decision‑making

The role ensures systems are stable, secure, and fit for purpose, without directly performing technical delivery.

3. IT Operations (Oversight)

Accountable for outcomes delivered by the IT Operations Manager, including:

End‑user computing, infrastructure, and workplace technology services
Incident, problem, and change management effectiveness
Asset, device, identity, and access lifecycle management
Service reliability, performance, and user experience across all US sites

The role owns service outcomes and systemic improvements, not day‑to‑day ticket handling.

4. Cybersecurity (Oversight)

Accountable for outcomes delivered by the Cybersecurity Manager, including:

Operational cybersecurity control execution and monitoring
Vulnerability management and incident response
Audit readiness, evidence management, and remediation tracking
Ongoing compliance with applicable contractual and regulatory requirements, including where required:
NIST 800‑171 / CMMC
Customer security clauses
SSA / export control‑related controls

Strategic cybersecurity posture and target maturity are set at group level; this role ensures execution and sustainment in the US environment.

5. People & Delivery Leadership

Lead and performance‑manage the three pillar managers
Set clear expectations, priorities, and accountability across teams
Build operational depth and resilience, reducing single points of failure
Support workforce planning, recruitment, and capability uplift aligned to execution needs

6. Vendor, Financial & Commercial Management

Oversee US Digital & IT operational budgets and cost management
Manage vendor performance and service delivery outcomes
Ensure licensing, support agreements, and technology contracts are fit for purpose
Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost control

7. Stakeholder & Program Support

Act as the primary Digital & IT execution lead for US operational and program stakeholders as a member of the BAI Senior Leadership Team.
Ensure IT and cybersecurity obligations are met for active and upcoming contracts
Provide clear, pragmatic advice on delivery risks, constraints, and dependencies
Escalate material risks appropriately and in a timely manner

8. Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Provide clear operational reporting on service performance, delivery status, and risks
Track benefits realization for US‑delivered initiatives
Drive continuous improvement in tools, processes, and ways of working

Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

Essential

10+ years’ experience in IT or digital delivery leadership roles
Proven experience operating in regulated, compliance‑driven environments
Strong operational execution, risk management, and delivery discipline
Demonstrated ability to lead through managers
Strong stakeholder and vendor management capability

Desirable

Defense, maritime, aerospace, or manufacturing sector experience
Practical experience with NIST 800‑171, CMMC, or similar frameworks
Experience operating enterprise platforms in production environments
