Company Information
The Superior Group, Inc. is an Alaska-based, 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company providing full mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building automation services to commercial, industrial, transportation, and institutional customers across the state. Founded in 1964, employee ownership is more than a benefit—it is the foundation of how we operate. Our employee owners directly share in the company’s financial success through profit sharing and long-term wealth building, creating a culture of accountability, stability, and opportunity that is rare in the construction and service industry.
Why Work With Us?
- You're an Owner – As an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, every employee has a stake in the company’s success. When the company does well, so do you.
- Alaska-Born, Alaska-Built – Work with a company that understands the importance of community, resilience, and resourcefulness.
- Growth and Stability – We’re not just growing, we’re growing smart — sustainably and strategically.
Own the opportunity. Build the solution. Deliver the project.
The Superior Group is seeking an experienced electrical professional to lead Designed Electrical Services within our organization.
This is not a desk-only project management position—and it is not a pure sales role. You will build lasting customer relationships, identify electrical service opportunities, develop accurate estimates and proposals, secure profitable work, and manage each project through successful completion.
The right person combines electrical knowledge, commercial judgment, strong organization, and the confidence to work directly with customers.
What You’ll Do
- Develop trusted relationships with facility managers, property managers, building owners, general contractors, and other commercial and institutional customers.
- Review customer needs, facility conditions, and electrical testing or maintenance findings to identify repairs, system upgrades, and Designed Electrical Services opportunities.
- Conduct site visits and gather the information needed to define project scope, schedule, access requirements, shutdowns, and other jobsite constraints.
- Prepare detailed estimates, budgets, proposals, labor plans, material requirements, and project schedules.
- Present recommended solutions clearly, respond to customer questions, follow up on proposals, and secure profitable work.
- Manage awarded projects from turnover through closeout, maintaining ownership of scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate field leadership, technicians, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal support personnel.
- Monitor committed costs, labor performance, material procurement, change orders, billing information, forecasts, and project profitability.
- Communicate project status, risks, schedule changes, and customer decisions promptly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate opportunity, proposal, project, and customer records.
- Identify follow-up work and continue developing each customer relationship after project completion.
- Travel periodically to customer and project locations throughout Alaska.
- Participate in occasional training and professional development travel in the Lower 48.
What Success Looks Like
- Customers view you as a reliable electrical solutions partner and call you when new needs arise.
- Estimates are complete, competitive, and based on clearly defined scopes.
- Projects are delivered safely, professionally, on schedule, and within budget.
- Potential problems are recognized early and resolved before they affect the customer or project.
- The Designed Electrical Services pipeline grows through strong relationships, consistent follow-up, and successful project delivery.
- Completed projects lead to repeat work and long-term customer relationships.
What You Bring
- Relevant experience in commercial or industrial electrical service, construction, estimating, or project management.
- Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, service upgrades, controls, equipment replacement, and related electrical solutions.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, field information, and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop project scopes, estimates, budgets, schedules, and customer proposals.
- Strong cost-control, planning, negotiation, sales, and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence communicating with customers, field personnel, vendors, and company leadership.
- A business-minded approach—you understand that successful work must be safe, technically sound, valuable to the customer, and profitable.
- Strong personal ownership, organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel periodically.
A journeyman electrical license is not required. We welcome candidates whose electrical knowledge was developed through field experience, estimating, project management, construction management, or a related career path.
