Full Job Description

NYSUT Administrative Assistant (union-nonexempt position) ONSITE

Overview:

The NYSUT Education & Learning Trust (ELT) is a separate non-profit organization formed by NYSUT to provide professional development to its members, NYSUT seeks a full-time Administrative Assistant to provide on-site support to NYSUT Professional Staff. The position also will be responsible for specific regions in the State, securing instructors for various programs and conferences, sending contracts and seminar materials as appropriate.

The CWA Administrative Assistant reports to the ELT Manager. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences in regard to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and socio-economic circumstance.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Assist in planning and organizing onsite and virtual meetings, calls, and events as directed.

· Type, prepare, proofread all documents. Draft correspondence and other materials as requested.

· Answering high-volume calls and responding/forwarding appropriately.

· Maintain and organize paper and electronic filing systems.

· Secure travel arrangements for Professional Staff

· Provide general administrative support including tracking and reporting expenses, preparing expense reports.

· Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned.

· Commitment to work collaboratively and respectfully

Qualifications:

· Excellent administrative, organizational and time management.

· Strong writing and proofreading skills.

· Must be detail oriented and adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 360 (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook).

· Must be a self-starter, take initiative, and work well with others in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to work independently, as well as within a team.

· High school diploma or equivalent is required.

· A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in related area.
