Full Job Description

Job Summary
The Hospice Account Executive is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, independent living communities, home health agencies, case managers, discharge planners, and other healthcare professionals to promote hospice services and increase appropriate patient referrals. This position serves as a trusted resource by providing education on hospice eligibility, services, and referral processes while enhancing community awareness and ensuring exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain productive relationships with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, hospital staff, discharge planners, case managers, social workers, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, independent living communities, home health agencies, and other healthcare referral sources within the assigned territory.
Conduct routine in-person visits to physician offices, hospitals, nursing facilities, home health agencies, and community partners to educate referral sources on hospice services, eligibility criteria, and the benefits of timely hospice referrals.
Identify and develop new referral opportunities through strategic territory planning, relationship development, and community outreach.
Serve as a trusted resource regarding hospice philosophy, Medicare hospice benefits, admission criteria, payer guidelines, and available clinical services.
Provide educational presentations, in-services, and hospice education to healthcare professionals, community organizations, and referral partners.
Collaborate with admissions, intake, clinical, and operational teams to ensure timely communication and seamless coordination of referrals and admissions.
Respond promptly to referral source inquiries and provide exceptional customer service while maintaining ongoing communication throughout the referral process.
Maintain accurate documentation of referral activities, account visits, business development efforts, and referral trends using the organization's CRM or referral tracking system.
Analyze referral patterns and develop strategic action plans to grow market share within the assigned territory.
Increase community visibility by participating in networking events, health fairs, educational seminars, civic organizations, and other community engagement opportunities.
Maintain a regular schedule of face-to-face visits with assigned referral sources while continually identifying new business opportunities.
Represent the organization professionally while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and organizational policies, including HIPAA regulations.
Meet or exceed established activity, relationship-building, referral growth, and territory development goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of two years of healthcare sales, hospice, home health, physician liaison, pharmaceutical, medical device, or healthcare marketing experience preferred.
Knowledge of hospice philosophy, Medicare hospice benefit, hospice eligibility criteria, and healthcare referral processes preferred.
Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.

Working Conditions

Frequent local travel throughout the assigned territory.
Daily in-person visits to physician offices, hospitals, nursing facilities, assisted living communities, home health agencies, and other referral sources.
Participation in community outreach events, networking opportunities, and occasional evening or weekend functions as needed.
Regular driving and field-based business development activities.

Development and retention of strong professional relationships throughout the healthcare continuum.

Timely follow-up and conversion of referral opportunities.
Achievement of established activity goals, referral objectives, community outreach expectations, and business development targets.
Consistent representation of the organization's mission, values, and commitment to exceptional patient and family care.

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year

Work Location: On the road
