Overview

Join our dynamic culinary team located in the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law as a Line Cook, Prep Cook, and Dishwasher, where your energy and passion for food will help create memorable dining experiences. This versatile role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary skills, contribute to a vibrant kitchen environment, and ensure smooth food service operations. Whether you're preparing ingredients, cooking up delicious dishes, or maintaining a spotless workspace, your efforts will be vital to our success. We value paid positions that foster growth and teamwork in a fast-paced, food-loving environment. Wages are negotiable with proven experience. Added benefit, tips are included.

Duties

Prepare ingredients and assist in meal assembly according to established recipes and standards
Cook dishes with precision, ensuring quality, presentation, and timely service
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen stations, utensils, and equipment to uphold food safety standards
Support menu planning by assisting with ingredient prep and portioning for various dishes
Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures and sanitation protocols
Assist with catering orders and special event setups to deliver exceptional service experiences
Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen tools efficiently while adhering to health regulations
Support the dietary department with meal preparation and food handling tasks as needed

Skills

Experience working in dietary or dietary aide roles is highly desirable
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices
Excellent knife skills for efficient and safe ingredient handling
Prior restaurant or food industry experience demonstrating reliability and teamwork
Familiarity with menu planning and meal preparation processes
Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation procedures
Ability to work quickly under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Enthusiasm for learning new cooking techniques and expanding culinary expertise
Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and support service flow
