Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Field Coordinator is a key member of the project operations team responsible for coordinating and enabling daily construction activities in the field. Serving as the primary liaison between the field, project management, subcontractors, and clients, this role ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans, schedules, and quality standards.

The Field Coordinator proactively identifies and removes obstacles to production while maintaining strong relationships with trade partners and supporting the Superintendent in delivering successful projects.

Reports To: Superintendent or Senior Superintendent

FLSA Status: Exempt

Essential Responsibilities

Field Coordination

Coordinate daily field activities to support safe and productive operations.
Monitor construction progress and communicate schedule, manpower, material, and quality concerns.
Coordinate subcontractor activities to minimize conflicts and maximize workflow.
Schedule inspections with appropriate authorities and project stakeholders.
Support the Request for Information (RFI) process and communicate field issues requiring clarification.
Maintain awareness of material procurement, deliveries, and availability.
Identify field constraints and work collaboratively to remove obstacles affecting production.

Safety Leadership

Promote a culture where safety is the highest priority.
Identify, correct, and communicate jobsite hazards.
Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with company safety standards.
Support implementation of OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Participate in safety meetings and inspections.
Encourage proactive hazard recognition throughout the project team.

Construction Coordination

Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and one-line diagrams.
Assist in reviewing shop drawings and coordinating design intent.
Understand contract documents and trade scopes of work.
Coordinate between field personnel and office staff to resolve construction issues.
Support change management activities as project conditions evolve.

Quality Assurance

Assist in establishing quality expectations with subcontractors before work begins.
Perform routine quality inspections.
Identify workmanship deficiencies early.
Support punch list development and completion.
Ensure work complies with project specifications and company quality standards.
Hold trade partners accountable while maintaining professional working relationships.

Scheduling & Production

Develop an understanding of project critical path activities.
Monitor contractor production levels.
Assist with short-term look-ahead planning.
Coordinate workflow between trades.
Track action items through completion.
Prioritize competing responsibilities while maintaining project momentum.

Communication & Leadership

Serve as the primary field representative for the project.
Build positive working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Communicate openly, honestly, and professionally.
Resolve conflicts calmly and constructively.
Demonstrate empathy while maintaining accountability.
Foster teamwork through trust, respect, and collaboration.

Risk Management

Monitor project risks related to manpower, materials, schedule, safety, and quality.
Communicate emerging issues before they impact project performance.
Assist in material tracking and expediting.
Escalate issues requiring management attention.

Technology

Utilize construction software and digital tools including: Bluebeam, Construction document management systems, Company project management software
Maintain accurate field documentation.
Leverage technology to improve project communication and coordination.

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred; equivalent
field experience considered.
2–5 years of commercial construction experience.
Working knowledge of commercial construction methods and sequencing.
Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Understanding of scheduling principles.
Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction software.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

OSHA 30 Certification
First Aid/CPR Certification
Experience with Bluebeam
Experience using Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar construction management software
Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors on commercial projects

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
