Contract Duration: 3 months - 1 year

Pay range: $38-60/hour

Hiring for 2 positions: 3-Axis CNC Machinist and Senior 5-Axis CNC Machinist

Company Overview

Our client is a space exploration and infrastructure company headquartered in Houston, Texas.

Position Summary

We are seeking a talented and experienced 3-Axis and 5-Axis CNC Machinist to join our client's Manufacturing team. This position will support the production and manufacturing of aerospace components for the support of their Lunar program.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze specification charts, samples and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements and GD&T.
Work with Engineers to communicate needs, manufacturability and timeline.
Develop a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications.
Create and maintain programs using CAM software.
Prepare and mark raw materials needed to manufacture parts.
Set up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing plan.
Operate equipment to carry out each step correctly.
Monitor the production process and intervening when problems arise.
Inspect finished parts for flaws and defects.
Maintain equipment located throughout the machine shop.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience programming 3-axis/5-axis CNC Mills.
Proficiency with component design and assembly management using 3D CAD software.
Familiarity with commonly used aerospace and commercial specifications for materials, processes, fasteners, mechanical components, etc.
Clear understanding of G and M code.
Knowledge of how to program, setup, and operate 3-axis/5-axis CNC mills with a high level of familiarity machining composites.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective manufacturing plans based on specifications and drawings.
Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and make adjustments during the manufacturing process.
Ability to move roughly 50 to 75 pounds and remain at your workstation throughout the day.
Understanding of health and safety regulations to reduce the risk of workplace accidents.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
Strong organizational, communication, and creative problem-solving skills, with a collaborative team-first mindset that aligns with our core values of Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence.
Ability and willingness to work under compressed and aggressive delivery schedules
Teamwork - Eager and able to work in a collaborative and cross-disciplinary fashion in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Haas, Okuma OSP, Heidenhain controls.
Experience with the automated loading and unloading of parts using pallet changers, robotic arms, etc.
Experience with additive manufacturing and EDM.
Experience with Zeiss CMM.
Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Familiarity with standard practices for fabricating and manufacturing any number of parts from a variety of materials including but not limited to Aluminum, Titanium, High Nickel alloys and Carbon Fiber.
