40 hours per week, Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Hours may vary based on operational needs.

Job Summary:
The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a Clinical Nurse to function as a member of the endocrinology team. The primary working location will be at Primary Children’s Miller Campus in Lehi, UT, with occasional work at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. The team consists of 3 RNs working with 3 NPs and 14 MDs. The Clinical Nurse will be responsible for delivering professional nursing care to patients via phone or patient portal. The Clinical Nurse utilizes strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status; implements clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms; develops, implements, and evaluates patient care plans and patient education materials to enhance and improve outcomes and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Performs phone management with patients’ parents, chart review, care coordination, triage, and problem management.
Assists providers and staff with patient-related paperwork such as letters of medical necessity, DMV forms, school care plans, and preauthorization.
Utilizes knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control, and safety precaution, and initiates appropriate interventions in crisis situations.
The above responsibilities will be shared with other nurses and medical assistants in the Department. Incumbent will be expected to provide high quality patient care in an organization focused on patient safety, patient and parent satisfaction, and positive patient outcomes; advocates for patients and families to ensure unique needs are met; collaborates with highly skilled team members dedicated to achieving patient goals and providing world class care; actively participates in educational opportunities. Education in patient management is ongoing with the help of division practitioners and support staff.

This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care. Workers in this position may be exposed to infectious diseases and may be required to function around prisoners and behavioral health patients.
The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. Minimum Qualifications
Required
Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah.
Preferred
Some positions may require additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ), Pediatric Advanced Life Support ( PALS ), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program ( NRP ) within one year of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
