Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Accountant's Assistant to support our accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong foundation in financial concepts, accounting software, and regulatory reporting to contribute to various aspects of corporate and non-profit accounting operations. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliation, with experience in both manual and software-based bookkeeping systems. This position is essential for ensuring the integrity of financial data and supporting the organization’s financial management activities.

Responsibilities

Perform account reconciliations such as bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis to ensure accuracy.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
Record journal entries accurately using accounting software such as QuickBooks,
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to aid management decision-making.
Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting standards including SOX, LIHTC, and securities law requirements.
Maintain detailed records of financial transactions following GAAP principles and double-entry bookkeeping practices.
Assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data.
Support payroll processing and related tax filings while ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
Contribute to internal controls by monitoring account activity for discrepancies or irregularities.

Qualifications

At least three years prior experience in the Accounting Field.
Proven experience or strong familiarity with corporate accounting practices including GAAP, accrual accounting, and financial report writing.
Proficiency with accounting software , Quickbooks.
Solid understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
Knowledge of regulatory standards such as SOX compliance and securities law is preferred. .
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for account reconciliation and bookkeeping tasks.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment; mentoring experience is advantageous.
Familiarity with tax regulations related to payroll and other financial reporting requirements.
Effective communication skills for preparing reports and interpreting financial information clearly. This position provides an engaging environment for professionals eager to develop their expertise in diverse areas of accounting while supporting organizational success through precise financial management practices.
