Full Job Description

Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager

Location: On-site (Manufacturing Facility)

Department: Quality Assurance

Reports To: Production Manager / Director of Supply Chain & Manufacturing

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Quality Assurance Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality for incoming raw materials and components through rigorous inspection, testing, and documentation. You will also support in-process and assembly-line quality checks, collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues, and contribute to the development of robust quality control procedures. The ideal candidate brings a strong engineering mindset, practical quality assurance experience in a production environment, and a passion for driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform thorough incoming inspection of raw materials and components, including injection-molded plastics, CNC-machined parts, bearings, fasteners, steel springs, packaging materials, and other supplied items.

- Execute specification tests and dimensional verifications directly from part drawings, engineering prints, and technical specifications; conduct functional assembly checks of select components into finished goods to confirm fit, form, and function.

- Identify and document non-conformances, clearly communicating issues to vendors with referenced drawing callouts, measurements, and supporting evidence; track vendor corrective actions and support supplier quality improvement initiatives.

- Develop, implement, and maintain quality checks and inspection processes throughout the assembly line to prevent defects and ensure consistent product quality.

- Create and update Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions as needed to standardize inspection methods and improve overall quality systems.

- Maintain accurate and complete inspection records in both physical logbooks and electronic systems; generate reports, trends, and metrics using Microsoft Office Suite.

- Collaborate closely with the Production Manager, Engineering team, and Director of Supply Chain & Manufacturing to investigate part or assembly issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement timely corrective actions.

- Support internal audits, calibration of inspection equipment, and continuous improvement projects related to quality and process efficiency.

Qualifications and Requirements

Required:

- 2+ years of hands-on experience in quality inspection or quality assurance within a manufacturing/production environment.

- Strong technical knowledge and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and technical specifications.

- Proven experience performing incoming material inspections, dimensional measurements, and assembly verification checks.

- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain Quality Control SOPs and quality documentation.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for data tracking and reporting).

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical issues to vendors, engineers, and production teams.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Preferred:

- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.

- Experience in a production setting involving injection molding, CNC machining, or mechanical assemblies.

- Familiarity with basic statistical process control (SPC), root-cause analysis tools (5-Why, Fishbone), and ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.

- Experience using common inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, pin gauges, etc.).

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 35 lbs, and perform hands-on inspections in a manufacturing floor environment.

- Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting with occasional exposure to noise and varying temperatures.
