About Rooted Wonders
Rooted Wonders is a women- and minority-owned boutique botanical design studio based in the Washington, DC Metro area. We specialize in preserved moss walls, faux greenery, faux florals, custom planters, seasonal décor rental services, and branded botanical installations for commercial spaces.
Our work blends nature, design, craftsmanship, and storytelling to create spaces that feel warm, elevated, and connected to their surroundings. We are a small, growing studio with a creative, hands-on environment where every project is different and every detail matters.
At Rooted Wonders, we believe beautiful spaces can help people feel more grounded, inspired, and connected to nature. Our goal is to create long-lasting, low-maintenance botanical designs that bring warmth, beauty, and a brighter, more sustainable future into the places people live, work, gather, and visit.
About the Role
We are looking for a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Design/Admin Studio Assistant to support proposals, renderings, design presentations, mood books, product sourcing, project organization, client communication, and general studio administration.
This is a great role for someone who has a strong eye for design, enjoys organizing details, and can help turn creative ideas into polished client-facing materials. The right person should be comfortable jumping between design support, vendor research, admin tasks, project tracking, and creative business operations.
This role may include occasional help with portfolio images, marketing materials, website updates, and/or social media content.
This role may also include attending occasional vendor meetings, product showrooms, client meet-and-greets, industry events, or site visits to help learn materials, gather product information, support relationship-building, and assist with follow-up notes.
This position will include a mix of remote and in-person work. Some tasks may be completed from home after training, while certain project prep, meetings, material reviews, studio organization tasks, client presentations, meet-and-greets, or site visits may take place at our studio/warehouse or local project locations in the DC Metro Area.
For the right long-term fit, there may be an opportunity to grow into a larger or more permanent position as Rooted Wonders continues to expand.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with client proposals, design decks, presentations, renderings, mood books, and visual concepts
- Create and update Canva presentations, product boards, scope pages, project documents, and client-facing proposal materials
- Research faux plants, planters, moss, florals, seasonal décor, signage, hardware, and installation materials
- Build and organize product pages with vendor links, pricing, lead times, dimensions, quantities, notes, and product options
- Compare product options based on look, scale, quality, availability, pricing, lead time, and fit for the design
- Support estimates, scope summaries, proposal details, and project pricing organization
- Help track project timelines, client requests, follow-ups, deadlines, and next steps
- Organize photos, portfolio images, project files, vendor files, samples, and design references
- Draft or organize client communication, follow-up emails, meeting notes, and project summaries when needed
- Attend occasional vendor meetings, product meetings, client meet-and-greets, site visits, or industry events when helpful
- Help keep project details organized between design, sourcing, ordering, production, and installation
- Assist with occasional portfolio updates, marketing materials, website content, or social media content as needed
- Support general studio/admin tasks in a growing small creative business
The Right Person Is
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to keep track of many moving pieces
- Creative with a strong eye for design, color, texture, scale, layout, and presentation
- Experienced and comfortable working in Canva
- Comfortable creating polished presentations, product pages, mood boards, and proposal materials
- Comfortable using Google Drive, Gmail, spreadsheets, and basic project documents
- Able to research products and compare options thoughtfully
- Strong at writing, editing, note-taking, and organizing information clearly
- Comfortable reviewing pricing, quantities, vendor details, and project information carefully
- Reliable, proactive, and able to take ownership of tasks
- Comfortable working both independently and alongside the owner
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, non-corporate creative studio environment
- Interested in interiors, plants, events, hospitality, commercial design, branding, product sourcing, or creative business operations
- Calm under pressure and able to stay flexible when project needs shift
Helpful Experience, But Not Required
- Canva presentation design, proposal support, product sourcing, vendor research, or client presentation experience
- Interior design, floral design, event design, architecture/interiors, hospitality design, visual merchandising, or creative production experience
- Experience with renderings, mood boards, design decks, product pages, material boards, or look books
- Experience organizing pricing, estimates, product options, quantities, lead times, or vendor information
- Familiarity with commercial design, construction documents, measurements, renderings, or client-facing design materials
- Adobe, SketchUp, Canva Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, or other design/rendering software is a plus
