Senior Technology Systems Designer / RCDD

Location: Tempe, Arizona
Salary Range: $100,000 – $140,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Convergent Technologies Design Group (CTDG) is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Technology Systems Designer / RCDD to join our growing Tempe office. This role is ideal for a highly skilled low voltage design professional who thrives in a collaborative consulting environment and is passionate about delivering innovative technology solutions across a wide range of project types including higher education, healthcare, commercial, government, and institutional facilities.

As a senior member of the design team, this individual will lead the planning, design, coordination, and documentation of telecommunications and low voltage systems while mentoring junior staff and supporting project delivery from concept through construction administration.

Position Responsibilities

Lead the design and documentation of structured cabling and low voltage technology systems for complex projects
Develop telecommunications infrastructure designs in accordance with BICSI, TIA/EIA, and industry best practices
Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, narratives, riser diagrams, device layouts, and equipment schedules
Coordinate closely with architects, MEP engineers, owners, and vendor partners throughout all project phases
Serve as a client-facing representative during meetings, presentations, and project coordination efforts
Manage priorities and maintain the ability to meet project deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment
Perform quality control reviews and ensure technical accuracy of deliverables
Support project management efforts including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication
Participate in site surveys, construction administration, submittal reviews, and field observations
Mentor and support junior designers and production staff
Assist with technology master planning, infrastructure strategy discussions, and cost estimating efforts
Collaborate across disciplines including audiovisual, security, DAS, and acoustics teams to provide integrated solutions

Preferred Qualifications

Current RCDD certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
3–10 years of experience in telecommunications / low voltage consulting and systems design
Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems, pathways, spaces, backbone design, and outside plant coordination
Ability to work directly with clients and project teams in a professional and collaborative manner
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Proficiency with AutoCAD required; Revit experience is a strong plus
Project management experience is a plus
Experience with construction cost estimating is a plus
Experience designing systems for healthcare, higher education, commercial, or mission-critical environments preferred
Familiarity with CSI specifications and construction documentation standards
Willingness to learn and collaborate on audiovisual and electronic security systems design is highly valued
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
