Full Job Description

Assistant DirectorPosition Summary

The Assistant Director supports the Director in overseeing daily operations, staff supervision, program implementation, and organizational effectiveness. This role helps ensure that strategic goals are achieved while maintaining high standards of performance, compliance, customer service, and employee engagement.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Operations

Assist the Director in managing daily operations and organizational activities.
Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives.
Monitor operational performance and recommend improvements.
Serve as acting Director in the Director's absence.

Staff Management

Supervise, coach, and support employees.
Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.
Promote a positive work environment and professional development.
Address employee concerns and facilitate effective communication.

Program & Service Oversight

Ensure programs and services are delivered effectively and meet organizational standards.
Monitor program outcomes and compliance requirements.
Assist in planning and evaluating new initiatives and services.
Support quality improvement efforts.

Financial Administration

Assist with budget preparation and monitoring.
Review expenditures and ensure efficient use of resources.
Support grant management, reporting, and fundraising activities as applicable.

Compliance & Reporting

Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and licensing requirements.
Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for leadership and stakeholders.
Participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.

Community & Stakeholder Relations

Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, vendors, and community partners.
Represent the organization at meetings, events, and community activities.
Assist in resolving customer or stakeholder concerns.

QualificationsEducation

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Public Administration, Human Services, Management, or a related field.
Master's degree preferred.

Experience

3-5 years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience.
Experience in program administration, operations management, or related leadership roles.

Skills

Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organizational and project management skills.
Budgeting and financial management knowledge.
Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software systems.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use office equipment for extended periods.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, if required.

Working Conditions

Primarily office-based with occasional travel to meetings, events, or program sites.
May require occasional evening or weekend hours.
