Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Schedule, reschedule, and cancel new and established patient appointments according to provider schedules and practice protocols.
Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally, directing calls to the appropriate department when necessary.
Register new patients and update existing patient demographic, insurance, and contact information.
Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required referrals or authorizations when applicable.
Coordinate follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing, imaging, and laboratory visits as directed by providers.
Communicate appointment instructions, preparation requirements, and office policies to patients.
Monitor provider schedules to maximize efficiency while maintaining appropriate appointment availability.
Manage appointment waitlists and contact patients regarding cancellations or earlier appointment opportunities.
Respond to patient inquiries regarding scheduling, office procedures, and general information.
Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) and scheduling system.
Collaborate with providers, medical assistants, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of patient care.
Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Support front office operations as needed, including check-in, check-out, and other administrative duties.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of one year of medical scheduling, medical office, or healthcare customer service experience preferred.
Experience in an endocrinology or specialty medical practice is preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes preferred.
Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to maintain professionalism and empathy when interacting with patients.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
