Full Job Description

Bean, Kinney & Korman, P.C. (BKK) is a distinguished law firm known for achieving exceptional results and providing responsive, high-quality client service. Our fast-paced and varied litigation practice requires precision, sound judgment, professionalism, and sensitivity to the unique needs of each client.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Legal Assistant with at least five years of law firm experience, including experience supporting litigation attorneys.

This is a strictly in-office position and is not eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement. Candidates must be available to work in our Arlington, Virginia office each workday.

This is a highly client-facing position requiring exceptional communication skills, discretion, empathy, and the ability to remain composed when handling sensitive or emotionally charged matters. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, anticipates the needs of attorneys and clients, and can effectively manage multiple matters, deadlines, and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to attorneys.
Communicate frequently with clients, provide appropriate updates, respond to inquiries, gather information, and ensure clients receive timely and professional assistance.
Handle sensitive and confidential client matters with discretion, patience, and professionalism.
Prepare, revise, proofread, and format pleadings, correspondence, discovery, and other legal documents.
Assist with electronic court filings in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland.
Maintain case calendars and docketing systems, calculate and track court deadlines, and coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, and client meetings.
Organize and maintain electronic case files, pleadings, discovery materials, and document productions.
Assist with client billing, electronic billing submissions, account follow-up, and accounts receivable collections.
Manage attorney schedules and coordinate meetings, conferences, and other case-related activities.
Perform other administrative and case-support responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

At least five years of experience as a legal assistant in a law firm.
Litigation support experience is strongly preferred.
Strong client-service skills and demonstrated experience communicating directly with clients.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and competing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, electronic filing systems, document-management systems, and other legal technology.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Experience with court procedures and filings in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland is preferred.
Ability and willingness to work in the firm’s Arlington office each workday. This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
