Full Job Description

Job Summary
California Waste Solutions, Northern California's Premier Waste Collection and Recyling Company, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Recyling/Collections - Operations Manager to oversee all daily operations at the San Jose collection facility, including the disposal activities at the Materials Recovery Facility, (MRF). The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors Degree or the equivalent work experience of 5+ years of waste management or industrial operations with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience with environmental regulations, waste permitting, and audit processes strongly preferred.

Duties

Oversee all daily operations at the collection facility, including disposal activities at the MRF.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, local environmental agencies) and company policies related to collection sites.
Manage and lead a team of supervisors, drivers, technicians, and administrative staff—ensuring proper training, performance reviews, and workforce planning.
Maintain high safety standards, enforce site safety protocols, and lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
Monitor site KPIs to include throughput, compliance, fuel usage, and maintenance scheduling.
Interface with regulatory bodies during inspections, audits, or permitting processes.
Manage site budgets, control operating costs, and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives for process optimization, sustainability, and resource recovery.
Act as liaison with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and municipal or industrial clients.
Monitors progress of daily operations and reassigns employees and makes staffing changes as necessary.
Partners with Associate Director in preparing budget and managing P&L
Develops leadership team and sets overall strategy for front line supervisors.
Conducts field inspections and audits of all site personnel to ensure proper work procedures
Receives and reviews customer complaints regarding collection programs.
Performs reviews and performance management discussions.
Formulates both short-term and long-term goals and action plans for the Hauling Company.
Oversee a variety of complex compliance programs, including environmental, OSHA, and local permitting.
