Full Job Description

Medical Assistant / Clinical Assistant – Will Train The Right Person

Full-time | Asheville, NC | On-the-job training available

Asheville Medicine & Pediatrics is looking for an energetic, dependable, and personable individual to join our clinical team.

Previous Medical Assistant experience is NOT required but is preferred. We are willing to train the right person.

If you have experience working in a medical office, phlebotomy, patient care, front-desk medical work, CNA work, or another healthcare setting—and you are motivated to learn—we would love to hear from you.

We are a small, independent medical practice where we know our patients personally and take pride in providing excellent, individualized care. Our physicians are Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, so we care for patients of all ages, from newborns through older adults.

What You’ll Learn and Do:

Depending on your previous experience, we will provide training in areas such as:

Rooming patients and obtaining vital signs

Working with both pediatric and adult patients

Administering vaccines and injections

Phlebotomy and preparing laboratory specimens

Performing EKGs, spirometry/PFTs, pulse oximetry and other office testing

Assisting physicians with patient visits and procedures

Documenting accurately in our electronic medical record

Handling patient phone calls and messages

Communicating laboratory and test results as directed by providers

Assisting with prescription and referral prior authorizations

Maintaining exam rooms and clinical supplies

Helping coordinate referrals and follow-up care

Who We’re Looking For:

Have experience in a medical office or other healthcare setting OR have a strong interest in moving into a clinical role

Are comfortable with computers and learning new technology

Are organized and able to work efficiently in a busy environment

Enjoy interacting with patients and families

Are dependable, energetic, and willing to take initiative

Pay close attention to details

Work well as part of a team

Are eager to learn new clinical skills

Experience as a Medical Assistant, phlebotomist, CNA, patient care technician, medical receptionist/front-office employee, or other healthcare position is helpful but not required.

We will train a motivated candidate who has the right attitude, aptitude, and work ethic.
