Estate Planning Law Firm is Seeking a Paralegal

Small Law Firm (solo practitioner attorney)

Luminary Wills and Trusts is a boutique estate planning law firm located on Hendersonville Road in South Asheville. We are a young, collaborative, and upbeat firm and we are looking for a highly detail-oriented paralegal to help keep up with increasing client demand.

Position Overview
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, meticulous, and self-motivated. The paralegal will support the attorney by reviewing and drafting legal documents, communicating with clients, and running select meetings. Accuracy and consistency are critical. This position requires someone who naturally checks and re-checks their own work.

Key Responsibilities

Attorney Support: Screen certain potential clients if their situation is too complex for the front desk to schedule appropriately. Review intakes and prior estate planning documents to generate brief outlines and meeting notes for the attorney.
Real Estate Research & Drafting: Review the GIS and the Register of Deeds to confirm property ownership. Review existing plat maps and property descriptions. Draft first pass non-warranty deeds for attorney review.
Client Meetings: Lead draft review and funding meetings to guide clients through their documents and asset transfers. We don't expect anyone to be able to jump right in and do this. Our attorney will make time to train you and allow for shadowing so that you feel comfortable when the time comes. He will also be there ready to jump in if there are issues or questions that arise during your meetings. However, you should feel comfortable with the idea of preparing for and leading certain client meetings.
Communication & Coordination: Manage phone and email correspondence, keeping detailed notes to ensure seamless team collaboration.
Document Management: Review estate planning binders, update asset spreadsheets, and meticulously proofread documents for accuracy.
Execution & Firm Support: Serve as a notary/witness for signings and assist with front desk coverage or general administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

North Carolina Certified Paralegal
Prior Estate Planning Experience (preferred, not required)
Notary Public, State of North Carolina (preferred, not required)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized, meticulous attention to detail.
Positive Attitude: Brings joy, humor, and a bright perspective to daily work life.
Client-Focused: Empathetic listener who loves connecting with people from all walks of life.

Position Details

Schedule: 5 days per week (Mon-Fri), 7:30am-4:00pm
Pay: $45,000 salary
Location: 900 Hendersonville Road, Suite 201B, Asheville, NC 28803
