Full Job Description

Position Overview: The Grants Manager is responsible for driving fundraising through comprehensive grant writing and management. This role encompasses researching, crafting, and submitting compelling grant proposals and reports to private foundations, corporations, and government entities. The successful candidate will be able to navigate the schedules and bureaucracy of government agencies as well as the competitive dynamics of private foundations.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Research:

Research and identify new grant opportunities that align with the Housing Assistance Corporation’s mission and strategic goals.
Evaluate funding opportunities through online searches, review of requests for proposals, and direct communication with funders.

Proposal Writing:

Write and edit high-quality, compelling narrative responses for grant proposals.
Develop and write grant proposals in partnership with the CEO and other staff to persuasively communicate Housing Assistance Corporation’s mission and programs.
Assemble and submit complete grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations before deadlines.
Participate in identifying new collaborative or resource development relationships.

Grant Management:

Monitor and manage awarded grants, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance through the grant lifecycle in collaboration with staff across departments.
Coordinate pre-award and post-award management, working with the executive director, finance team, and relevant program staff to ensure successful execution of grant objectives.
Grow the grants program by increasing the number of grants applied to and secured on an annual basis.

Administration:

Prioritize projects to keep multiple grants moving in a timely manner, ensuring deadlines are met and all supplemental materials are managed efficiently.
Manage the grants calendar and participate in ongoing staff meetings, training, and strategic planning processes as needed.
Educate staff about grant opportunities, functions of the grants program, and proactive strategies to ensure readiness for grant success.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
3 to 5 years of relevant, direct experience in grant writing and management.
Proven experience in securing and managing grants for a nonprofit organization or educational institution.
Knowledge of non-profit organizations, government funding, and financial accounting.
Competency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
