Full Job Description

The Olde Jaol Steakhouse & Tavern – Wooster, OH

The Olde Jaol Steakhouse & Tavern is looking for a dependable Tavern Cook to join our kitchen team. This position focuses primarily on preparing and executing our tavern menu and is a great fit for a cook who takes pride in putting out consistent, great-tasting food in a fast-paced environment.

We’re looking for someone who can work efficiently, stay organized during a rush, and be a reliable part of the kitchen team.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook tavern menu items according to recipes and presentation standards
Work grill, fryer, sauté, and other stations as assigned
Complete daily prep and maintain appropriate par levels
Execute tickets quickly and accurately during busy service
Maintain consistent portioning, quality, and presentation
Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures
Keep stations clean, stocked, and organized throughout the shift
Properly label, date, rotate, and store food
Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties
Communicate effectively with other cooks, servers, bartenders, and management
Minimize food waste and use ingredients responsibly
Help maintain a clean, professional, and team-oriented kitchen

What We’re Looking For

Previous restaurant cooking experience preferred
Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen
Basic knowledge of grill, fryer, and food-preparation techniques
Ability to follow recipes and established portion standards
Strong sense of urgency without sacrificing quality
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Ability to work independently when necessary
Positive, team-oriented attitude
Willingness to clean and maintain the kitchen—not just cook
Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability

Schedule

This position is primarily for afternoon and evening tavern kitchen coverage, with weekend availability strongly preferred.
