Full Job Description

Summary

The Advanced CNC Technician / Programmer provides technical expertise in CNC programming, machine setup, troubleshooting, process improvement, and operator development. This role supports efficient production by improving machining processes, reducing downtime, maintaining quality standards, and helping develop technical capabilities within the machining department.

Responsibilities & Required Skills

Program, edit, verify, and optimize CNC programs to improve production efficiency, quality, and cycle times.
Apply advanced knowledge of CNC controls, G-code, offsets, cutter compensation, and machining processes to support daily operations.
Perform complex machine setups, first-piece inspections, and production validations.
Troubleshoot machine alarms, tooling issues, setup challenges, and dimensional problems while implementing effective solutions.
Analyze machining processes and perform root cause analysis to reduce downtime and improve consistency.
Optimize tooling, cutting parameters, fixturing, and workholding methods to maximize machine performance and tool life.
Utilize CAM software to create and improve CNC programs and machining strategies.
Provide technical support and mentorship to CNC operators through training on setup procedures, programming fundamentals, tooling, offsets, and troubleshooting techniques.
Develop and maintain setup documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to improve process consistency.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, and cost reduction.
Assist with automation and advanced manufacturing initiatives, including probing systems, robotic tending, pallet systems, and process monitoring.
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams to solve problems and improve manufacturing performance.
Serve as a technical resource and leader within the machining department by promoting safe practices, accountability, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

5+ years of CNC machining and programming experience preferred.
Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, setup procedures, tooling, fixturing, and production optimization.
Experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, or Brother Speedio preferred.
Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM, GibbsCAM, Esprit, or similar platforms preferred.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.

Pay: $25.51 - $30.72 per hour
