Your tasks
As a
Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of SteelcoBelimed equipment, with a focus on highly specialized systems in biomedical research (BMR), and laboratory environments. You will possess a deep understanding of custom-engineered decontamination and sterilization solutions, as well as the unique workflows and safety protocols associated with BSL-1 through BSL-4 facilities.

You may have experience as a/an: Automotive Repair Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, HVAC Technician, Car Wash Mechanic, Machinist’s Mate, Boiler Technician, Generator Technician, Forklift Technician, Appliance or Equipment Repair Technician, etc.
Travel: 50% to 75% primarily by vehicle; home on weekends
Territory: New York, New Jersey and New England

Install, commission, and maintain complex SteelcoBelimed equipment in high-containment labs, healthcare and research facilities

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues using advanced diagnostic tools and test equipment

Work safely around hazardous substances including strong acids, alkaline solutions, and other potentially dangerous process chemicals

Interpret and redline detailed P&ID and electrical schematics for highly customized installations

Understand and adapt to the operational workflows of BSL facilities, ensuring full compliance with site-specific biosecurity and decontamination protocols

Support validation, commissioning, and documentation processes in lab and BMR environments

Provide in-service training to customers on the correct operation and daily maintenance of equipment

Maintain accurate and timely service records, including work orders, calibration logs, PM checklists, and regulatory documentation

Manage chemical inventory and oversee reordering for customer chemical usage (when applicable)

Foster strong customer relationships through technical excellence, clear communication, and professionalism
Your profile
- High school diploma or equivalent
-
3+ years of experience in field service roles supporting high-end lab, pharma, or biomedical equipment
-
Familiarity with IQ/OQ, SAT, FAT validation protocols
-
Experience servicing Steelco equipment, or similar systems used in biotech settings
-
Background working with acid/alkaline dosing systems, steam sterilizers, cage washers, tunnel washers systems

Solid understanding of lab, BMR equipment cycles, including sterilization, sanitization, and high-level disinfection

Knowledge of cleanroom and controlled environment protocols

Ability to safely perform field service tasks in biohazard zones (BSL-2 to BSL-4)

Experience working with PLCs and automation systems

Competence in industrial piping (copper, stainless steel), electrical wiring (single & three-phase), and instrumentation calibration

Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, temperature/pressure calibrators, and amp probes

Strong organizational and documentation skills; capable of working independently with minimal supervision

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively with short notice
