Full Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a meaningful role supporting student success as an ASL interpreter, working one-on-one with a middle school 8th-grade student in a vibrant educational setting near Douglasville, GA. This contract opportunity offers full-time hours, approximately 9 am to 4 pm, where your expertise in American Sign Language can truly make a difference.

Key Qualifications:

Proficient in American Sign Language with the ability to facilitate accurate, expressive, and receptive communication
Hold a minimum score of 3.5 on the EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment)
Prior experience in a school or educational environment is preferred
Strong sense of professionalism, reliability, and discretion when working in a classroom setting
Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and family members to support student growth

Core Responsibilities:

Provide real-time interpretation between the 8th-grade student and staff, ensuring clear communication during lessons, activities, and school functions
Adapt interpreting styles for various subjects and classroom environments
Assist with understanding curriculum content, instructions, and peer interactions
Maintain confidentiality while fostering a respectful and inclusive learning atmosphere
Proactively support the student’s participation, social integration, and academic achievement
