Job Title: Service Systems Engineer – Surgical Robotics
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid)
Duration: 9 Months Contract

Job Summary

Seeking a Service Systems Engineer to support the design, development, and service readiness of advanced surgical robotic systems. The role focuses on Design for Serviceability (DfS), diagnostics, field service workflows, maintenance strategies, and regulatory compliance for complex medical robotic platforms.

Roles & Responsibilities

Define and implement Design for Serviceability (DfS) requirements for surgical robotic systems, including modular assemblies, quick-connect components, and service access improvements.
Collaborate with engineering teams on robotic system architecture, diagnostics, calibration processes, and service-friendly designs.
Perform serviceability FMEA, develop service BOMs, preventive maintenance plans, and calibration procedures.
Support verification, validation, and product development activities through design and launch phases.
Develop service documentation including troubleshooting guides, repair procedures, and technical manuals.
Improve field service workflows, installation processes, and maintenance procedures for robotic platforms.
Partner with Field Service, Engineering, Quality, and Training teams to enhance technician readiness and customer experience.
Ensure compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, and IEC 60601 standards.
Support reliability improvements, post-market feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
1–3 years of experience in service engineering, field service, medical devices, or complex electromechanical systems.
Experience with technical documentation, troubleshooting, and regulated environments.
Knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and IEC standards.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with surgical robotics, medical devices, or electromechanical products.
Knowledge of DfS, FMEA, DHF, V&V, and reliability engineering.
Experience with process improvement, Lean Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Hands-on experience with inspection tools and test equipment.

Pay: $35.00 - $43.00 per hour
