Fabrication Operations Manager

Austin, TX | Full-Time | Direct Hire

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Operations Manager to lead and optimize our fabrication operations supporting some of the most complex commercial mechanical construction projects in Central Texas. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an operations professional who thrives on improving production, developing teams, implementing new technologies, and driving operational excellence.

What You Will Do

Lead day-to-day fabrication operations for pipe and duct fabrication.
Manage production schedules to support field installation priorities and project milestones.
Oversee manpower planning, labor utilization, workflow management, and shop productivity.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput.
Improve pipe fabrication processes and welding productivity.
Evaluate and implement fabrication automation, tooling, and equipment improvements.
Partner closely with VDC, Project Management, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Field Operations.
Develop and monitor KPIs related to labor efficiency, production capacity, backlog, and schedule adherence.
Improve material flow, logistics, and fabrication workflows throughout the shop.
Develop and mentor fabrication supervisors and shop personnel while promoting a culture of safety and accountability.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in mechanical fabrication, pipe fabrication, industrial welding, manufacturing operations, or fabrication leadership.
Proven experience managing fabrication operations, production scheduling, manpower planning, and shop productivity.
Strong knowledge of pipe fabrication processes and welding operations.
Experience working for a mechanical contractor supporting commercial construction projects.
Proven leadership experience managing fabrication teams and improving operational performance.

Preferred Qualifications

HVAC duct fabrication experience.
Plumbing prefabrication experience.
Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
Experience implementing automated welding systems or fabrication automation.
Knowledge of BIM/VDC fabrication workflows.
Experience supporting large-scale commercial mechanical construction projects.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year
