Full Job Description

We are seeking a passionate, energetic, and nurturing teacher to join our growing outdoor learning community in August (for the start of our school year). Our school is built around hands-on experiences, individualized learning, and meaningful connections with nature. We believe children learn best through exploration, movement, creativity, and real-world experiences.

The ideal candidate is patient, flexible, hardworking, and genuinely enjoys working with children. We are looking for someone who can meet students where they are academically, socially, and emotionally while helping them grow with confidence. Our teachers adapt instruction to students' needs, ensuring every child is appropriately challenged, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Because much of our program takes place outdoors, applicants should be comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions and enthusiastic about nature-based education.

Our class sizes approximate 8-10 kids per class. You will be receiving either a part time or full time aide.

Our school day runs Monday–Thursday from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, with student drop-off beginning at 8:15 AM and pick-up ending at 3:30 PM.

We offer flexible scheduling, with opportunities to work anywhere from 24–38 hours per week, depending on availability and responsibilities.

Duties

Create a warm, welcoming, and supportive learning environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to learn.
Plan and facilitate engaging lessons and hands-on learning experiences tailored to students' individual needs and abilities.
Adapt curriculum and instruction to provide appropriate support, intervention, enrichment, and challenge for each student.
Foster children's academic, social-emotional, and personal growth through meaningful relationships and positive guidance.
Lead outdoor learning activities including nature exploration, gardening, animal care, science investigations, creative projects, and physical activities.
Support literacy, math, science, art, and project-based learning through a variety of resources and teaching methods.
Utilize observation and assessment to monitor student progress and communicate growth with families.
Encourage independence, responsibility, problem-solving, and collaboration among students.
Assist with daily routines, transitions, snack time, outdoor play, and supervision throughout the school day.
Collaborate with fellow staff members to maintain a positive and supportive school culture.
Help maintain outdoor learning spaces, gardens, and classroom materials as needed.

Qualifications

Experience working with preschool and/or elementary-aged children.
Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Comfortable adapting instruction to meet a wide range of learning styles and developmental needs.
Patient, flexible, organized, and able to remain calm in a dynamic environment.
Enthusiastic about outdoor education, nature-based learning, and hands-on experiences.
Strong classroom management and positive behavior guidance skills.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating as part of a team.
Willingness to spend significant portions of the day outdoors.
Teaching experience in private schools, homeschool programs, outdoor education programs, Montessori-inspired environments, camps, or early childhood settings is preferred but not required.
