Full Job Description

Campus Support Specialist – Contract-to-Hire

Location: West/Southwest Austin (78746) – Onsite

Engagement Type: 3-Month Contract-to-Hire

Pay Rate: $21.00/hour during contract phase

Schedule: Monday–Friday, generally 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, with a 1-hr unpaid lunch break

Background Requirement: Must pass a criminal background Fingerprint check upon hire.

Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, ongoing basis without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

GTS Technology Solutions is seeking a Campus Support Specialist to provide hands-on technology support for a public-sector customer in the West/Southwest Austin area. This position will support end users across a variety of desktop, mobile, network, and classroom technology environments while delivering a high level of customer service.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting both Apple and Windows environments, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, deploying and provisioning devices, and providing Tier 1 technical support. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on IT support professional seeking a contract-to-hire position with long-term growth potential.

Education/Certification

· High school diploma or GED required

· Associate degree and/or relevant technical certification preferred

Key Responsibilities

· Provide Tier 1 technical support for staff and other users of customer technology and services.

· Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, tablet, software, peripheral, connectivity, and basic network-related issues.

· Image, configure, provision, and deploy computers and tablets in both individual and large-scale deployments.

· Install, relocate, and support computers, peripherals, and VoIP phones as needed.

· Assist with the installation and maintenance of cabling supporting network, audio, and video systems.

· Troubleshoot, maintain, and assist with repairs of A/V equipment.

· Accurately document work performed, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and time spent within the help desk/ticketing system.

· Maintain technical documentation and contribute troubleshooting knowledge and procedures to the team’s knowledge base.

· Work closely with other support specialists and customer personnel to provide timely and professional technical support.

· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive organizational and user information.

· Maintain professional working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, end users, and members of the public.

· Demonstrate initiative and collaborate effectively with team members to complete projects and support activities.

· Maintain and expand technical knowledge and skills relevant to the position.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience

· 2–5 years of experience supporting technology solutions, including hardware and software

· 2–5 years of experience supporting desktop and mobile operating systems and applications

· 2–5 years of experience in customer service, technical support, and/or help desk environments

· Experience supporting users in an education, public-sector, or similarly distributed environment is a plus

· Driver’s License Requirement: A valid Class C driver’s license is required. The selected candidate must be able to provide a current three-year driving record. Candidates relocating to Texas must be able to obtain a Texas driver’s license within the required timeframe after establishing Texas residency.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

· Experience providing Tier 1 help desk and end-user support

· Knowledge of Mac computers and macOS

· Knowledge of PCs and Microsoft Windows operating systems

· Knowledge of iPads and iOS/iPadOS

· Familiarity with Apple and Microsoft productivity applications

· Experience imaging, provisioning, configuring, and deploying computers and tablets

· Basic network troubleshooting knowledge

· Familiarity with VoIP phone deployment and support

· Knowledge of classroom or conference-room A/V technology, including projectors, document cameras, amplification systems, and flat-panel displays

· Familiarity with basic network, audio, and video cabling

· Experience documenting incidents, requests, resolutions, and technical procedures within a help desk/ticketing system

Working Conditions

Prolonged computer use; repetitive hand motions
Moderate lifting (15–45 lbs) of IT equipment
Travel to local sites as required
Occasional evening or weekend hours
Constant use of technology in fast-paced environments
