About the Role

Paratus Service Group is seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer in the Austin area to join our growing team of lighting control experts. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy solving technical challenges, working directly with customers, and becoming specialists in advanced lighting control systems.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will work on commercial and high-end residential projects, serving as the technical lead for system commissioning, programming, troubleshooting, and customer training. You will collaborate with contractors, project managers, facility personnel, and end users to ensure successful project delivery and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Commission, program, and troubleshoot advanced lighting control systems.
Verify proper installation and operation of field devices, panels, processors, and network infrastructure.
Perform system diagnostics and resolve technical issues both remotely and on-site.
Train end users, facility staff, and project stakeholders on system operation.
Create and maintain detailed service documentation and commissioning reports.
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure project success.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact during project commissioning and service activities.
Travel frequently in support of projects and service calls. Approximately 75% of travel will be nationwide, with the remaining 25% consisting of local travel within a 50-mile radius of the Austin area.
Ability and willingness to travel overnight and on multi-day trips throughout the United States.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and a desire to learn new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with electrical systems, low-voltage systems, controls, automation, or electronics.
Technical degree, vocational training, military technical experience, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and construction documents.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
Valid driver's license and ability to obtain or possess a Real ID for domestic air travel.

Desired Skills and Certifications

Experience with lighting control systems.
Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), networking, audiovisual systems, or HVAC controls.
Knowledge of Lutron, Crestron, Vantage, KNX, DALI, DMX, or similar technologies.
Programming and networking experience.
