Part-Time Phlebotomist & Laboratory Processor

QCR-Austin | Austin, Texas

QCR-Austin is seeking an experienced, dependable, and patient-focused Part-Time Phlebotomist and Laboratory Processor to join our team. The ideal candidate must be confident working with both pediatric and adult patients and have strong specimen collection, handling, and laboratory-processing skills.

Candidates must be available to work daytime hours and occasional evening hours, depending on patient visits and clinical study needs.

Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture, capillary sticks, and other specimen collections for pediatric and adult patients.
Help create a calm, safe, and comfortable experience for patients, including children, anxious patients, and individuals with difficult veins.
Verify patient information and accurately label all specimens.
Process specimens according to established protocols, including centrifuging, aliquoting, preparing, storing, packaging, and shipping samples.
Maintain complete and accurate collection and processing documentation.
Follow study-specific procedures, laboratory requirements, OSHA standards, HIPAA regulations, and infection-control practices.
Monitor laboratory supplies and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Promptly communicate collection issues, specimen discrepancies, or protocol deviations to the appropriate clinical staff.

Required Qualifications

Previous professional phlebotomy experience with both children and adults.
Demonstrated ability to perform successful blood draws on patients of varying ages.
Experience with specimen labeling, processing, centrifugation, storage, packaging, and shipping.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and specimen integrity.
Excellent communication, organizational, and patient-service skills.
Ability to follow detailed protocols and work independently.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Availability during daytime hours, with flexibility to work occasional evening hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Phlebotomy certification from a recognized organization.
Experience in a clinical research, physician office, hospital, or laboratory setting.
Current CPR or Basic Life Support certification.
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and clinical research procedures.
