Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Production Scheduler / Scheduling Coordinator supports the execution and maintenance of the company-wide manufacturing schedule by assisting with work order flow, schedule integrity, production prioritization, and cross-functional communication between teams.

This role is responsible for helping maintain accurate production visibility within the ERP system, supporting schedule adjustments, monitoring bottlenecks, and assisting with escalations to ensure work orders move efficiently through the manufacturing process. The position serves as an operational support role focused on reducing reactive scheduling activity and improving overall schedule stability.

Key Responsibilities

Production Scheduling & Schedule Support

Assist with maintaining and executing the company-wide production schedule to support on-time delivery goals.
Monitor work order movement and identify schedule risks, bottlenecks, or capacity concerns.
Support prioritization and sequencing of work orders based on customer demand, production constraints, and operational priorities.
Assist with scheduling reworks, remakes, and escalated jobs as needed.
Validate work order statuses, routing accuracy, and labor transactions within ERP to maintain scheduling integrity.
Support management of hotlist items, escalations, and recovery scheduling activities.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Coordinate with Planning, Expediting, Programming, Production, and Quality teams regarding schedule changes and production priorities.
Assist Customer Service with schedule visibility and updated production timelines when required.
Communicate scheduling impacts related to material shortages, scrap, remakes, machine downtime, or capacity shifts.
Support Operations leadership with schedule-related reporting and production visibility updates.

System Integrity & Reporting

Monitor ERP system data for inaccuracies involving work order routing, sequence completion, or labor transactions.
Assist with maintaining production dashboards, Excel trackers, and scheduling visibility reports.
Support development and maintenance of SQL queries and reporting tools for operational visibility.
Audit production queues and aging work orders to identify flow disruptions or inactive jobs.

Continuous Improvement

Assist with identifying opportunities to improve workflow, scheduling processes, and cross-department communication.
Support initiatives focused on improving schedule stability, WIP visibility, and production flow.
Participate in process improvement efforts tied to operational efficiency and KPI performance.

Qualifications

3–5+ years of experience in production scheduling, planning, manufacturing coordination, or operations support preferred.
Experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, filters, and pivot tables.
Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing workflows.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to changing operational demands.

Preferred Skills

Experience with SQL queries, reporting tools, or production dashboards.
Familiarity with APS scheduling environments and work order flow management.
Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.
Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and KPI tracking.
Ability to analyze production constraints and support schedule recovery efforts.
