Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, resilient, and highly motivated Human Resources Manager to join one of our fast-paced Skilled Nursing and Long-Term Care facilities. This is not a traditional HR office role. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, priorities shift frequently, and employee interactions occur continuously throughout the day.

Our facility serves a diverse workforce made up of employees from various cultural, professional, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The ideal candidate must be comfortable communicating effectively with everyone, from frontline staff and department leaders to residents, families, vendors, and executive leadership. Success in this role requires patience, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build trust and credibility with people from all walks of life.

This position requires a highly organized professional who can balance multiple priorities, navigate frequent interruptions, and remain focused in a high-volume environment. The HR office experiences significant daily traffic and serves as a central resource for employees and leadership, making strong customer service skills and accessibility essential.

This is a hands-on leadership position that often requires flexibility beyond standard business hours, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, and Manager-on-Duty responsibilities to support facility operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Leadership

Manage all day-to-day Human Resources operations for a skilled nursing and long-term care facility.
Serve as a trusted advisor to facility leadership and employees.
Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, coaching, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution.
Conduct workplace investigations while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.

Recruitment & Workforce Management

Lead recruitment efforts including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and orientation.
Partner with department leaders to address staffing challenges and workforce planning needs.
Develop and implement retention and employee engagement initiatives.
Support succession planning and leadership development efforts.

Compliance & Administration

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Manage personnel records, employment documentation, and HR reporting requirements.
Oversee benefits administration, leave management, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and related processes.
Ensure all employment practices align with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Operational Support

Function as an active member of the facility leadership team.
Provide Manager-on-Duty coverage as assigned, including some evenings and weekends.
Assist operational departments when needed to support resident care and facility success.
Support dining services operations before or after regular office hours when business needs require.
Demonstrate a team-first mentality and willingness to step outside traditional HR responsibilities to support the facility.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree (4-year degree) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility, Long-Term Care, or healthcare setting.
Strong knowledge of employment law, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and HR best practices.
Experience supporting a high-volume workforce in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, HR systems, and applicant tracking platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or related HR certification.
Previous healthcare leadership experience.
Multi-facility experience within long-term care or post-acute healthcare environments.
