Full Job Description

Austin, TX | Full-Time | In Person

Century Fire Protection is seeking an experienced Commercial Fire Sprinkler Designer with a minimum of three years of commercial fire sprinkler design experience. This role is ideal for a designer who can independently produce commercial and tenant improvement (TI) fire sprinkler system designs with minimal supervision.

What You'll Do

Design commercial fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes.
Prepare permit drawings, fabrication drawings, hydraulic calculations, material lists, and submittal packages.
Design wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.
Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, contractors, customers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
Review architectural and structural drawings to ensure code-compliant system designs.
Perform field surveys as needed to verify existing conditions.
Revise drawings based on field changes, redlines, and AHJ comments.
Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and meeting project deadlines.

Required Qualifications

Minimum three years of commercial fire sprinkler design experience.
Experience independently designing commercial and tenant improvement (TI) fire sprinkler systems.
Professional experience using HydraCAD, AutoSPRINK, SprinkCAD, or other fire sprinkler design software.
Experience preparing:
Hydraulic calculations
Permit drawings
Fabrication drawings
Material lists
Submittal packages
Working knowledge of NFPA 13, local fire codes, and permitting processes.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Please note: This is not an entry-level CAD or drafting position. General AutoCAD experience alone does not meet the qualifications for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

NICET certification preferred.
Experience coordinating with installation teams, project managers, and AHJs.
