Job Summary
CR United Holdings, Inc. is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller / Head of Finance to oversee the accounting and financial operations across all company subsidiaries. This role will serve as the senior financial leader responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and providing forward-looking financial insight to support executive decision-making. This role is ideal for a hands-on financial leader who can both oversee core accounting functions and provide strategic financial guidance to support business growth. This role will serve as a strategic financial partner to the CEO and executive team.
Job Duties - Strategic Finance & Growth:
- Common sense general business understanding to communicate and plan between various departments as well as client engagement.
- Serve as a key financial advisor to the executive team, providing analysis and insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Develop financial models and forecasts that help leadership evaluate growth opportunities, operational changes, and investment decisions.
- Analyze operational performance, margins, and cost structures to identify opportunities for efficiency and profitability improvements.
- Provide forward-looking financial insights that help leadership anticipate risks and plan for future growth.
- Lead company-wide budgeting and forecasting processes across all subsidiaries.
Job Duties - Building Financial Infrastructure:
- Build scalable financial processes and reporting systems that support company growth.
- Develop financial dashboards and reporting that provide clear visibility into company performance.
- Implement systems, controls, and workflows that strengthen financial discipline as the organization expands.
- Conduct financial modeling and scenario planning to support expansion, operational changes, and new business initiatives.
Job Duties - Day-to-Day Hands On:
- Own the consolidated monthly close on a 5–7 business day cadence across all operating entities and the holding company.
- Lead all multi-state tax compliance — sales/use, Washington B&O, payroll, annual report filings, business licenses, and registered agent management across CA, WA, and CO.
- Own the fixed asset register across vehicles, equipment, leasehold improvements, and IT — including capitalization policies, depreciation schedules, Section 179 and bonus depreciation decisions, and clean disposition / trade-in accounting.
- Operate ASC 842 lease accounting for warehouse properties across multiple states — right-of-use assets, lease liability roll-forwards, modification accounting, and integration with the GL.
- Manage the external CPA relationship for annual S Corp tax returns, K-1s for shareholders, and any review or assurance engagements.
- Partner with operations leaders in CA, WA, and CO on budget, forecast, route economics, vehicle ROI, and capital expenditure planning.
- Leverage AI resources/software to increase efficiencies, streamline processes and maximize existing resources.
- Strong cash management and forecasting.
- Translate financial data into actionable insights that inform leadership decisions.
- Oversee preparation of consolidated financial statements across multiple entities.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Implement and continuously improve internal controls appropriate for a private company of this scale.
- Maintain a clean, audit-ready general ledger for each entity, including inter-company eliminations, related-party transactions, and S Corp shareholder distribution mechanics.
- Ensure the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of financial systems and processes.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial operations and improve reporting infrastructure.
- Serve as the primary financial liaison with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions.
- Oversee tax coordination and regulatory reporting across all company entities.
- Manage banking relationships including operating accounts, revolvers, vehicle and equipment financing, and covenant reporting.
- Lead, develop, and where needed upgrade the in-house accounting team (currently 2–3 staff).
- Establish clear financial processes, reporting structures, and accountability standards.
- Foster a culture of financial discipline, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Must be able to work in-person Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Must be able to periodically travel (25% to visit HQ located in CA)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Proven ability to balance high-level strategy with hands-on accounting tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and analysis.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience helping companies scale from $15M to $50M++ in revenue preferred.
- Experience in small to mid-size business environments preferred with a growth and scalability mindset.
- Experience leading or supporting an ERP implementation or migration (e.g., transitioning from QuickBooks to a more robust platform).
- Comfortable with data governance, automation, and AI integration in a finance environment.
- A hands-on, detail-oriented self-starter with prior experience interacting with the CEO and Executive Team.
