Description

This role will support Babson Diagnostics research and development efforts by conducting experiments, analyzing data, and assisting in the design and optimization of diagnostic assays while contributing to cross-functional projects to ensure regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is master of the scientific method and pursues solutions to complex problems with unwavering tenacity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering; Biotechnology; Biochemistry; Biology; Chemistry; Medical Lab Science; or Pre-Pharmacy with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. 
Experience with common wet laboratory procedures such as pipetting and weighing.  
Experience with simple and complex statistics, experimental design (DOE), and biostats.
Experience in R programing, Power Query, and/or Power BI is a plus.   Strong written and oral communication skills. 
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality. 
Project ownership and the ability to work independently. 
Willingness to work with human specimens (e.g. blood). 
Willingness to learn and develop new skills over time. 
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines. 
Flexibility and creativity compatible with a rapidly changing startup environment.

Responsibilities

Support a wide variety of projects in assay development, clinical laboratory testing, and medical device development. 
Assist with clinical studies and peer-reviewed publications. 
Assist with daily laboratory operations. 
Conduct assay feasibility and optimization experiments on automated analyzers. 
Execute reliability studies and determining failure modes for medical devices and workflows. 
Troubleshoots assays and performing root cause analysis. 
Verifyies and validating assays according to defined protocols. 
Analyze data for diagnostic blood tests using statistical techniques and technical assessments. 
Create reports, charts, graphs, and documentation to support multiple projects. 
Study reliability and laboratory workflow for our end-to-end blood testing service.

Physically, the day-to-day functions of the role require:

Standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.
Occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.
A normal range of vision and hearing (inclusive of candidates using corrective measures such as glasses or hearing aids).
Occasional repetitive motions.
Collection of blood samples.
