Job Overview:
The AutoCAD Engineer and Draftsman will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans for custom staircases using AutoCAD software, as well as programming CNC machines using AlphaCam to produce custom staircase parts. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both design and CNC programming, along with a strong understanding of staircase construction, materials, and manufacturing processes. This is a critical role in ensuring that our custom staircase designs are translated accurately from digital plans into high-quality, precision-built products.
Key Responsibilities:
- AutoCAD Design & Drafting:
- Create detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for custom staircases, ensuring they meet client specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with sales representatives, architects, and clients to understand design requirements and technical constraints, and make necessary adjustments to designs.
- Produce comprehensive technical drawings, including material specifications, dimensions, and assembly instructions for staircase fabrication.
- AlphaCam Programming for CNC Machines:
- Program CNC machinery using AlphaCam to produce custom staircase components, ensuring precision and quality in manufacturing.
- Optimize CNC programs for efficient material usage, cost-effectiveness, and quality control.
- Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot and resolve any programming or machining issues.
- Update and maintain AlphaCam libraries with new parts, tools, and machining strategies as required.
- Project Documentation:
- Maintain organized records of designs, revisions, and CNC programming files.
- Ensure all technical documentation is clear, accurate, and compliant with company standards and industry regulations.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, production teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that project goals are met.
- Provide technical support to the production team, ensuring designs and programs are feasible for manufacturing.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Higher education or relevant work experience preferred. Certification in AutoCAD and/or AlphaCam is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an AutoCAD Engineer/Draftsman, preferably in the custom staircase or architectural design industry.
- Proven experience with AlphaCam programming for CNC machines, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Woodworking, carpentry experience highly desired
- Able to perform site visits and accurately capture/record field measurements
- High attention to detail with the ability to create accurate, quality drawings and CNC programs.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design or machining issues efficiently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering practical solutions for design and manufacturing challenges.
o Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
o Previous experience in the custom staircase manufacturing industry is a plus.
o Familiarity with CNC machines, automated cutting tools, or other advanced fabrication techniques.

Pay: $27.49 - $33.10 per hour
