Full Job Description

EXCAVATION SUPERINTENDENT

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Superintendent to manage construction projects from start to finish in the Baltimore and Washington surrounding areas. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and ensuring compliance with contracts and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who is highly motivated, with a strong work ethic and desires to be part of a skilled construction team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ensure employee safety and good morale by the consistent application of all HR, safety, and environmental policies.

· Manages and coordinates the work of multiple crews, including subcontractors,

as necessary.

· Ensure project profitability.

· Work cooperatively with Owners, Foreman, Customers, and Project Managers.

· Communicate approved work schedules, overtime, other relevant company information, etc, as authorized by the Project Manager.

· Monitor and maintain the orderliness of the job site, ensuring compliance with all company and customer safety rules and practices.

· Maintain regular and open communication with the Project Management Team.

· Maintain and forecast the project's needed materials accordingly

· Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

· General computer knowledge is required.

· Review contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.

· Must be able to read and understand blueprints and contract documents and effectively communicate the contents

· Comply with municipality requirements, specifications, safety standards, and company policies.

· Inquiries about mobilization and lead times for subcontractors and materials

· Calculate job progress risks and the time necessary to perform tasks

· Assist the Project Manager in the creation of and updates to the project schedule

· Monitor the quality of all work self-performed or subcontracted

· Remediation of all non-conforming work, whether self-performed or subcontracted.

· Communicate with the Project Manager, Owner, Subcontractor, employees, inspectors, and suppliers.

· Good Driving Record

SALARY/HOURLY EXEMPTION:

· Full-Time, Exempt Position

· Salary based on knowledge, experience, and education

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that can include extreme cold and heat

· The work environment periodically exposes the employees to high noise and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.

· The use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.

WORKING HOURS/EXPECTATIONS:

· Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week, including weekend assignments as required

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch on all different types of terrain.

· The employee is also regularly required to talk, walk, hear, smell, and use hands.

· The employee must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and move up to 75 pounds on occasion.

· Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions

· Drive and sit for prolonged amounts of time

· Must be able to pass a DOT Physical & Drug Screen

EDUCATION:

· High school or equivalent is required

LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:

· Valid Driver's License

· OSHA 10 Certification preferred

· Competent Person Excavation training preferred

NON-ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Experience with Heavy Jobs software is a plus

EXPERIENCE:

· At least 5 years of Excavation experience preferred

· Minimum of 2 years of management experience
