About Restorative Response Baltimore

Restorative Response Baltimore (RRB) is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming conflict, building relationships, and strengthening communities through restorative practices. We partner with schools, organizations, and neighborhoods to foster belonging, accountability, and healing. Our vision is a Baltimore where conflict is met with connection and harm is met with repair.

Position Summary

Conference Keepers are the heart of RRB’s restorative programs. They facilitate restorative conferences designed to repair harm and support accountability and healing. Conference Keepers embody RRB’s core values of respect, equity, and empathy—creating safe spaces for honest dialogue and mutual understanding.

The ideal candidate is an empathetic listener, skilled facilitator, and reflective practitioner who believes in the power of relationships to drive personal and systemic change.

Key Responsibilities

Conference Facilitation & Case Support

● Facilitate community conferences for youth, families, and community members.

● Guide participants through restorative conferencing processes that promote connection, repair, and support accountability.

● Support participants in identifying harm and developing actionable agreements.

● Prepare for each conference with intention—reviewing referral details, identifying potential supports, and establishing a welcoming, structured environment.

● Use restorative language, affective statements, and questioning techniques aligned with RRB’s facilitation model.

● Document conference details, agreements, and follow-up actions in MyRJ (RRB’s case management system).

Relationship Building & Community Engagement

● Build trust with participants through consistent communication, empathy, and presence.

● Practice cultural humility and trauma-informed approaches to ensure inclusivity and equity of voice.

● Collaborate with RRB staff and community partners to ensure circles reflect shared values and needs.

● Represent RRB’s mission and approach in a way that strengthens community partnerships and program integrity.

Professional Growth & Reflection

● Participate in regular debriefs, learning sessions, and professional development.

● Reflect on facilitation practice using tools and feedback.

● Within standards for confidentiality, track attendance, outcomes, and trends to support continuous improvement.

● Contribute to team meetings and data reviews to assess program impact.

Qualifications

● Experience working with youth, families, justice-impacted individuals, or community organizations (required).

● Demonstrated conflict resolution, mediation, or restorative practice experience (preferred)

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to manage sensitive conversations in restorative ways.

● Comfort working in community settings with diverse populations.

● Reliable transportation and flexibility to work during daytime hours and occasional evenings.

● Commitment to fostering equity, empathy, and mutual accountability.

● Restorative Language & Emotional Safety: Uses mindful language and presence, with intent to co-create trust and all forms of safety.

● Equity of Voice: Ensures all participants are treated with dignity to cultivate a culture of deep, patient listening and reflection, where everyone is invited to be heard or take up space.

● Emotional Foundation: Maintains a grounding presence and models things like empathy, compassion, vulnerability, courage, and care in moments of tension.

● Reflective Practice: Commits to continuous learning and adjustment through reflective or interactive feedback.
